THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

Dudley Tennant Louis Coward

to be Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Pelorus, on and from the 26th day of August, 1941.

James Hayes Finlay

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Hamilton, on and from the 26th day of February, 1942.

Gerald Granville Darley

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Clevedon, on and from the 16th day of March, 1942.

Clarence Michael Sewell

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Little River, on and from the 26th March, 1942.

New Plymouth Bread Delivery Scheme, 1942, approved.

PURSUANT to Regulation 3 of the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Supply, being satisfied that all the vendors of bread (otherwise than vendors by sale over the counter or by sale in the course of groceries delivery) in the district specified in the scheme referred to in the Schedule hereto are parties to the scheme or have been given an opportunity of becoming parties thereto, doth hereby approve the said scheme.


SCHEDULE.

NEW PLYMOUTH BREAD DELIVERY SCHEME, 1942.

  1. FOR the purposes of the scheme—

“ The district ” means the area of the Borough of New Plymouth as at present constituted:

“ Wholesale purchaser ” is one who purchases bread for resale or for consumption in a licensed hotel or other licensed accommodation premises, or in a restaurant, hospital, or any public institution.

  1. The conditions of the scheme approved hereby are that the bread of the bakers described hereunder shall be delivered by them to the premises only of wholesale purchasers and of invalids or other persons unable for sufficient reason to arrange for personal collection, such persons being decided upon by a committee of four persons, three of whom are to be appointed by the said bakers and one of whom is to be the District Oil Fuel Controller, New Plymouth.

  2. The scheme shall come into operation on the day following the date of the publication in the Gazette of the notice of the approval of the scheme by the Minister of Supply.

  3. The persons entitled to deliver the bread in the district are as follows:—

Notice of Intention to take Leasehold Estate or Interest in Land for Housing Purposes in the City of Lower Hutt.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 32 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to take the leasehold estate or interest in the land described in the Schedule hereto held from His Majesty the King by Leonard Ray Ireson under an occupation license issued under section 83 of the Lands for Settlement Act, 1925, and registered in the Land Registry Office at Wellington, Vol. 378, folio 123, for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Lower Hutt and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land in respect of which the leasehold estate or interest is required to be taken:

7 acres 2 roods 6 perches.

Being Section 13s, Waddington Settlement.

Situated in Block XIV, Belmont Survey District. (S.O. 17321.)

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 113245, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Fixing Date on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, are to be furnished to the Wellington, Lower Hutt, and Upper Hutt Fire Boards.

Wellington, 13th April, 1942.

PURSUANT to section 28 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1941, in respect of insurances held by such companies within that portion of the Wellington Fire District comprising the Johnsonville Town District and the Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt Fire Districts shall be transmitted to the Board concerned in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 15th day of May, 1942.

Date of Election of Insurance Members of the Wellington and Upper Hutt Fire Boards.

Wellington, 13th April, 1942.

PURSUANT to section 24 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, I, William Edward Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the 29th April, 1942, to be the day for the holding of an election of three members of the Wellington Fire Board and two members of the Upper Hutt Fire Board by fire-insurance companies which for the time being are carrying on business within the Wellington Fire District and Upper Hutt Fire District respectively.

National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.—Amendment to Declaration of Essential Undertakings (No. 8).

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 9 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of National Service doth hereby amend the Declaration of Essential Undertakings (No. 8) by including therein the undertaking set forth hereunder:—

Smith’s Tanneries, Ltd., at Auckland.
