The Headlight-restriction Areas and Parking-light Areas Notice 1942.
PURSUANT to Regulation 1 of the Lighting Restriction Emergency Regulations 1941*, the Minister of National Service doth hereby declare as follows:—

This Notice may be cited as the Headlight-restriction Areas and Parking-light Areas Notice 1942.

The roads, parts of roads, and other places described in Part I of the Schedule hereto shall be headlight-restriction areas for the purposes of the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations 1941.

The roads, parts of roads, and other places described in Part II of the Schedule hereto shall be parking-light areas for the purposes of the said regulations.

The Notices declaring certain areas to be headlight-restriction areas and parking-light areas, and dated the 15th day of October, 1941,† the 18th day of December, 1941,‡ and the 19th day of December, 1941,§ respectively, are hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE.
PART I.
Headlight-restriction Areas.
ALL roads, parts of roads, and other places (not being parking-light areas within the meaning of the said regulations) that are situated within the following areas:—
The Borough of Whangarei, the Town Districts of Onerahi and Kamo, and that portion of the Whangarei-Tamaterau Main Highway extending from the eastern boundary of Whangarei Borough to the north-western boundary of Onerahi Town District.
The Boroughs of Devonport, Takapuna, Northcote, and Birkenhead, and all that portion of the Northcote Main Highway within Waitemata County.
Situated within the County of Waitemata—
All that portion of Waitemata County bounded by a line commencing at the north-eastern extremity of Birkenhead Borough at Kaipatiki Creek; proceeding thence by a right line to the intersection of the centre-line of Birkenhead-Maungaturoto Main Highway No. 5 and the centre-line of Wairau Main Highway No. 596 near Glenfield; thence by a right line to the intersection of the centre-line of the Takapuna-Silverdale Main Highway No. 807 and the centre-line of Forest Hill Road; thence by a right line to the intersection of the centre-line of Beach Highway No. 383 and the centre-line of Kildrummie Road; thence by a right line due east to the sea; thence along the foreshore generally in a south-easterly direction to the north-eastern boundary of Takapuna Borough; thence generally in a westerly direction along the boundary between the Waitemata County and the Takapuna, Northcote, and Birkenhead Boroughs respectively, to the commencing point; the boundaries of the whole area being indicated by a green border on the plan marked TT. 1666, deposited in the office of the Transport Department at Wellington.
The City of Auckland and the Boroughs of Mount Albert, Mount Eden, Newmarket, One Tree Hill, Onehunga, Ellerslie, and Otahuhu, and the Mount Roskill, Mount Wellington, and Panmure Township Road Districts.
Situated within the City of Manukau—
All that area constituting the Pakuranga Riding of the Manukau County and all that area constituting the Mangere Riding of the Manukau County.
The Town District of Howick.
The Borough of Tauranga.
The Town District of Mount Maunganui.
The Borough of New Plymouth.
The City of Wanganui and that portion of the Wanganui-Levin Main Highway extending from the south-eastern boundary of Wanganui City to the intersection of the said main highway with Wanganui Airport Main Highway.
The Borough of Gisborne and that portion of the Gisborne-Te Araroa Main Highway extending from the south-eastern boundary of Gisborne Borough to the intersection at Wainui Beach of the said main highway with the Wainui Beach Settlement Road.
The Borough of Napier; that portion of the Gisborne-Napier via Hangaroa Main Highway extending from the western boundary of Napier Borough to the intersection at Petane of the said main highway with the Petane-Eskdale Main Highway; and that portion of the Napier-Palmerston North Main Highway extending from the southern boundary of Napier Borough to the intersection near Clive of the said main highway with the Farndon-Pakipaki Main Highway.
All that portion of the Hutt and Makara Counties bounded to the west by the sea; bounded to the north by a right line from the mouth of the Waikanae River to the intersection of the eastern boundary of the Levin-Paekakariki Main Highway and the northern boundary of Paraparaumu Beach Main Highway; bounded to the east by the eastern boundary of the Levin-Paekakariki Main Highway from its intersection with the northern boundary of Paraparaumu Beach Main Highway to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Pahautanui-Paekakariki Main Highway at Paekakariki; thence by the said eastern boundary of the Pahautanui-Paekakariki Main Highway to a point 10 chains south of the summit of the highway on the Paekakariki Hill; thence by a right line across the highway to its western boundary; thence by the said western boundary of the said main highway to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Pahautanui-Plimmerton Main Highway at Pahautanui; thence by a right line across the Pahautanui-Paekakariki Main Highway to its eastern boundary; thence in a southerly direction along the eastern boundary of the Pahautanui-Plimmerton Main Highway to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Haywards-Paremata via Pahautanui Main Highway; thence by the said eastern boundary of the Haywards-Paremata via Pahautanui Main Highway to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Wellington-Paekakariki Centennial Main Highway at Paremata; thence by the said eastern boundary of the Wellington-Paekakariki Centennial Main Highway to a point 8 chains measured along the said boundary in a south-easterly direction from its intersection with the southern boundary of the Porirua Railway-station Access Road in the Porirua Township; and bounded to the south by a right line from the last-mentioned point on the eastern boundary of the Wellington-Paekakariki Centennial Main Highway due west to the sea; the whole area being indicated in green on the plan marked TT. 1670, deposited in the office of the Transport Department at Wellington.
The Cities of Wellington and Lower Hutt; the Boroughs of Petone and Eastbourne; that portion of the Masterton-Wellington Main Highway extending from the northern boundary of Wellington City at Ngahauranga to the south-western boundary of Petone Borough; and all that area bounded to the north by the southern boundary of Lower Hutt City, to the south by the northern boundary of Eastbourne Borough, to the west by the foreshore of Wellington Harbour, and to the east by a line extending from the south-eastern corner of Lower Hutt City near the Wainui Hill Road to the north-eastern corner of Eastbourne Borough.
The City of Nelson and the Town District of Tahunanui.
The Borough of Westport.
The Borough of Greymouth.
The City of Christchurch, the Boroughs of Riccarton, Sumner, and Lyttelton, the County of Heathcote, and all that area of Fendalton within the Waimairi County, bounded to the east by the western boundary of Christchurch City, to the south by the northern boundary of Riccarton Borough and by the Christchurch-Timaru Main Highway, inclusive of the said main highway, between Riccarton Borough and Ilam Road, and to the west and north by Ilam Road, but exclusive of that road.
The Borough of Timaru.
The Borough of Oamaru.
The City of Dunedin, the Boroughs of St. Kilda, West Harbour, and Port Chalmers, the Peninsula County, and all that portion of the Dunedin-Port Chalmers Main Highway extending from the north-eastern boundary of the West Harbour Borough to the western boundary of the Port Chalmers Borough.
Situated within the County of Taieri—
All that portion of the Green Island-Taieri Mouth Main Highway within the Taieri County, and all that portion of Brighton-Scrogg’s Hill Road, commencing at its intersection with the Green Island-Taieri Mouth Main Highway at Brighton and terminating at a point 20 chains measured along the road in a northerly direction from its intersection with Bush Reserve Road.
The City of Invercargill, the Boroughs of South Invercargill and Bluff, and all that portion of the Invercargill-Bluff Main Highway within the Southland County.
PART II.
Parking-light Areas.
All roads, parts of roads, and other places that are situated within the following areas:—
Situated within the City of Wanganui—
All that portion of the sea-front road at Castlecliff, commencing at the north-western boundary of Wanganui City and proceeding by way of Beach Road, Cliff Road, and Wharf Street, and terminating at the intersection of Wharf Street and Woon Street.
