Appointments in the Public Service.

Charles Leslie Albert Stevenson

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Courts at Paeroa and Te Aroha for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, Clerk of the Warden’s Courts, Receiver of Gold Revenue and Mining Registrar at Paeroa and Te Aroha for the Hauraki Mining District, constituted under the Mining Act, 1926, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Courts at Paeroa and Te Aroha for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 16th day of March, 1942.

Martin Hall

to be an Inspector under the Food and Drugs Act, 1908, and the Health Act, 1920, on and from the 30th day of March, 1942.

Arthur Rex Grainger

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Seeds Importation Act, 1927, on and from the 1st day of April, 1942.

The Building Construction Control Notice No. 12.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows:—

  1. This Notice may be cited as the Building Construction Control Notice No. 12.

  2. This Notice shall apply to all electric cables of any type or size (whether flexible or otherwise), other than—

(a) Hard-drawn copper overhead conductors;
(b) Underground electric-supply cables;
(c) Telephone wires and cables; and
(d) Cotton-covered, silk-covered, asbestos-covered, or enamelled wire.

  1. No owner, within the meaning of the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, of any electric cables to which this Notice applies shall use, dispose of, part with the possession or control of, or otherwise deal with those cables except with the precedent consent of the Building Controller or in accordance with the directions of the Building Controller.

  2. Every person who owns or holds any electric cables to which this Notice applies shall, not later than the 17th day of April, 1942, forward to the Building Controller, P.O. Box 3005, Wellington, a statement setting out the following particulars in relation thereto:—

(a) Details of the quantity held in each size or type:
(b) If the cable is held against the requirements of any particular contract or contracts, the name of each contract and the quantity of cable in the various sizes and types so held against each contract:
(c) The approximate total quantity of cable in the various sizes and types required to complete each such contract.:
(d) The anticipated date of completion of each such contract;
(e) The name of the electric-power supply authority for the district in which each such contract is being carried out.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Housing Purposes in the City of Auckland.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 32 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Wellesley Street, Auckland, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Declaring a Place to be a Prohibited Place under the Defence Emergency Regulations 1941.

PURSUANT to the Defence Emergency Regulations 1941, the Minister of Defence doth hereby declare the place specified in the Schedule hereto to be a prohibited place for the purpose of the Defence Emergency Regulations 1941.


SCHEDULE.

MILITARY AREA.—CORNWALL PARK, AUCKLAND.

ALL that area in the Borough of One Tree Hill, North Auckland Land District, being part Allotment 8, 8A, 9, 10, 11, and 19, Section 12, Suburbs of Auckland, known as Cornwall Park, excepting therefrom the portion occupied by the Maungakiekie Golf Club and by the Campbell Statue. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked Army P.P. 55, 205/3/1, and deposited at Army Headquarters, Wellington.

The Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940.—Notice fixing Prices of certain Grades.

Office of the Minister of Marketing,
Wellington, 1st April, 1942.

PURSUANT to Regulation 5 : 1 of the Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940, I hereby fix the following prices per bushel to be paid by the Marketing Department for lemons of Fancy Grade and Commercial Grade respectively delivered to the Department during the undermentioned period.

The prices are fixed on an average basic price of 7s. 6d. for sufficient fruit which when cured will pack a bushel case.

Period of delivery (both days inclusive): 1st April to 30th April, 1942—
