(3) Any other person who, on the request of any authorized person or police officer, shall fail, when required, to give information which is in the power of such person to give, and which relates to any breach or alleged breach of these by-laws, shall be guilty of an offence.

  1. OFFENCES AND PENALTY.

(1) Every person who does, or causes or procures to be done, anything contrary to or otherwise than is provided by these by-laws, or who shall omit anything therein required to be done by him, shall be guilty of an offence.

(2) Every person guilty of an offence against these by-laws shall be liable for each such offence to a fine not exceeding £10 (ten pounds).

The foregoing by-laws were made by a resolution duly passed at a meeting of the Main Highways Board held at Wellington on the 18th day of March, 1942.

Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Taking of Fish for Sale.

AN application has been received from A. Frost, 129 Waghorne Street, Port Ahuriri, Napier, for a variation in the conditions of his existing license so as to enable him to take fish for sale by means of the fishing-vessel “Rover,” NR. 51, using trawl-nets, catches to be landed at Gisborne.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 16th April, 1942.

The Timber Control Notice No. 43.

NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Alexander Robert Entrican, Timber Controller, hereby require and direct as follows:—

(1) This Notice may be cited as the Timber Control Notice No. 43.

(2) This Notice shall come into force on the 10th April, 1942.

(3) Except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller no owner of timber which, at or at any time after, the coming into force of this Notice is situated in that part of New Zealand which comprises the Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, and Taranaki Land Districts, the Borough of Te Kuiti, and that part of the Auckland District to the south of Te Kuiti, shall transfer, remove, or consign any such timber to any other part of New Zealand.

(4) Except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller no owner of timber which at, or at any time after, the coming into force of this Notice is situated in that part of New Zealand referred to in clause (3) hereof, shall sell, part with the possession of, or otherwise dispose of any such timber if he has reason to believe that the timber is likely to be transferred, removed, or consigned to any other part of New Zealand.

Auckland Education Board.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and the amendments thereto, it is hereby publicly notified that Mr. George Hugh Smith has been duly elected as a member of the Auckland Education Board, representing the North Ward of the Rural Area, to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the death of Mr. J. E. Elliott. Having been the only duly nominated candidate, Mr. Smith was elected unopposed.
