APPLICATION FOR A LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

In the Warden’s Court held at Alexandra.

NOTICE is hereby given that application has been made to the Warden at Alexandra by His Majesty the King for a water-race to divert two heads for irrigation and domestic purposes commencing in Brassknocker Creek in Section 41, Block VI, Tiger Hill District, running south-easterly for three-quarters of a mile and terminating in P.R. 42: And such application will be heard in the Warden’s Court at Alexandra on Wednesday, 6th May, 1942, at 10 o’clock a.m.

Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s Office and notified to applicant at least three days before the time so appointed.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the committee of the Feilding Jockey Club at a meeting held on the 13th day of March, 1942, at Feilding, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. Norman John Short that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. Norman John Short, the Chairman of such club, and the meeting moved, and Mr. Edwin Newson Hayes Brewer seconded, and it was resolved that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :—

FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Feilding Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated in the district of Rangitikei, and known as the Marton Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :—

(a) Bookmakers.

(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Feilding Jockey Club were made and passed by such club on the 13th day of March, 1942, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

I, CLIVE HOUGHTON GARLICK, M.B., Ch.B. (University of New Zealand), now residing in Auckland, hereby give notice that I intend applying on the 2nd April, 1942, to have my name placed on the Medical Register of the Dominion of New Zealand; and that I have deposited the evidence of my qualification in the office of the Department of Health at Auckland.

UNDER the Regulations Act, 1936, statutory regulations of general legislative force are no longer published in the New Zealand Gazette, but are supplied under any one or more of the following arrangements:—

(1) All regulations serially as issued (punched for filing) subscription 30s. per annum in advance.

(2) Annual volume (including index) bound in buckram, 25s.

(3) Serially as issued and annual bound volume, as in (1) and (2) above, on combined subscription basis, 42s. per annum in advance.

(4) Separate regulations as issued.

(5) Loose-leaf binder for filing serial issues, 6s. 6d.; postage free.

The price of each regulation is printed thereon, facilitating the purchase of extra copies.

Orders on the subscription basis should be placed now with the Government Printer, Wellington, or at the Chief Post-offices at Auckland, Christchurch, or Dunedin.

THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of £3 3s. per annum, including postage, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE.

Single copies of the Gazette as follows:—

Ordinary Weekly Gazette: For the first 32 pages, 9d., increasing by 3d. for every subsequent 16 pages or part thereof; postage, 1d.

Supplementary and Extraordinary Gazettes: For the first 8 pages, 6d.; over 8 pages and not exceeding 32 pages, 9d.; increasing by 3d. for every subsequent 16 pages or part thereof; postage, 1d.

Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertions.

All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.

The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.

The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening of each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before 12 o’clock of the day preceding publication.
