Notice as to Control of certain Factory and Building Materials.

PURSUANT to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows:—
-
The provisions of the Notice as to the Control of certain Factory and Building Materials given by me on 20th December, 1939, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 20th December, 1939, at page 3551, are hereby extended to apply in respect of corrugated-terne sheets (lead-tin alloy coated steel sheets) and flat-terne sheets in the same manner and to the same extent as they apply to galvanized corrugated steel sheets and flat-steel sheets.

The provisions of the Notice as to the Control of certain Factory and Building Materials 1941 (No. 2), given by me on 8th July, 1941, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th July, 1941, at page 2102, are hereby extended to apply in respect of flat-terne sheets (lead-tin alloy coated steel sheets) and corrugated-terne sheets which have been flattened in the same manner and to the same extent as they apply in respect of flat galvanized steel sheets and corrugated galvanized steel sheets which have been flattened.

The Building Construction Control Notice No. 8.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows:—

This Notice may be cited as the Building Construction Control Notice No. 8.

In any case where an application has been made to any local authority, whether before or after the publication of this Notice, for a permit for any constructional work, the local authority shall not issue a permit therefor without the precedent consent of the Building Controller.

In any case where any person proposes to commence any constructional work and no permit therefor is required from a local authority, that person shall not commence the work without the precedent consent of the Building Controller.

The Building Construction Control Notice No. 6, 1941, published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 23rd day of December, 1941, at page 3998, is hereby amended by revoking paragraphs (4) to (9) thereof.

The Building Construction Control Notice No. 9.
——
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows:—

This Notice may be cited as the Building Construction Control Notice No. 9.

This Notice shall come into force on the 21st day of March, 1942.

Except with the precedent consent of a District Engineer of the Public Works Department, no person shall use Portland Cement for any constructional work other than for—
(a) A defence work:
(b) The construction, extension, or alteration of any freezing-works or cool store:
(c) The construction, extension, or alteration of any hospitals. -
Every person who holds or hereafter purchases Portland Cement in bags shall, within fourteen (14) days after the bags have been emptied, return the empty bags, dry and in good order and condition, to the person from whom the cement was purchased.

Every person who is not engaged in the business of selling Portland Cement and who on the coming into force of this Notice holds more than one (1) ton of Portland Cement, not intended for use in the construction, extension, or alteration of any defence work, freezing-works, cool store, or hospital, shall, not later than the 8th day of April, 1942, return to the person from whom the cement was purchased any amount of such cement which he holds in excess of one (1) ton, and the person to whom the cement is returned shall pay the person returning the cement, or credit him with, the amount paid by, or charged to, that person for the cement so returned.

The Building Construction Control Notice No. 10.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Control Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows:—

This notice may be cited as the Building Construction Control Notice No. 10.

Every person who owns or has in his possession or control any machinery, plant, or equipment, including concrete-mixers, winches, excavators, and other earth-moving or road-making machinery capable of being used for any defence work shall, not later than the 27th day of March, 1942, forward to the Building Controller, P.O. Box 3005, Wellington, a statement setting out, where applicable, the following particulars in relation thereto:—
(a) Type:
(b) Makers’ name and brand:
(c) Capacity:
(d) Horse-power:
(e) If power driven, the kind of fuel:
(f) Whether in use:
(g) Location:
(h) Age and condition of plant -
Every person who employs any labour on constructional work shall, not later than the 27th day of March, 1942, forward to the Building Controller, P.O. Box 3005, Wellington, a statement setting out the following particulars in relation thereto:—
(a) Number of skilled men employed in each trade:
(b) Number of unskilled men employed in each trade:
(c) Number and type of drivers operating mechanical equipment. -
Every person employing any labour on constructional work shall, not later than the 27th day of March, 1942, forward to the Building Controller, P.O. Box 3005, Wellington, a statement setting out the following particulars in relation to such work:—
(a) Description of each separate work:
(b) Total value of each work:
(c) Stage of completion—i.e., 25 per cent., 50 per cent., 75 per cent.:
(d) The anticipated date of completion of each work:
(e) Number of skilled workmen engaged upon each work:
(f) Number of unskilled workmen engaged upon each work.

The Building Construction Control Notice No. 11.
——
PURSUANT to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby require and direct as follows:—

This Notice may be cited as the Building Construction Control Notice No. 11.

Except with the precedent consent of the Building Controller no person shall use copper tubing for any constructional work otherwise than as piping for conveying hot water, including any exhaust pipe from a hot-water cylinder, and as a cold-water feed-pipe from a supply tank or pressure-reducing valve to a hot-water cylinder.
