Redefining Boundaries of the City of Christchurch, the County
of Waimairi, and the Styx, Avon, Marshlands, and Fendalton
Ridings of the County of Waimairi, the County of Heathcote,
and the Avonside and Bromley Ridings of the County of
Heathcote.

P URSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the
Municipal Corporations Act, 1933 (hereinafter referred
to as “the said section”), the boundaries of the City of
Christchurch are hereby defined as set out in the First
Schedule hereto, the union of the said city with the Borough
of New Brighton having been effected by Proclamation
made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the
20th day of March, 1941, and published in Gazette No. 26
of the 27th day of March, 1941, at page 746, and the boundaries
of the said city having been altered by the Orders in Council
enumerated in the Sixth and Seventh Schedules hereto :

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section,
the boundaries of the County of Waimairi and of the Styx,
Avon, Marshlands, and Fendalton Ridings of that county
affected by the Orders in Council set out in the Sixth Schedule
hereto are hereby defined as set out in the Second and Third
Schedules hereto respectively :

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section,
the boundaries of the County of Heathcote and of the Avonside
and Bromley Ridings of that county affected by the Orders
in Council set out in the Seventh Schedule hereto are hereby
defined as set out in the Fourth and Fifth Schedules hereto
respectively.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded by
a line commencing at the intersection of the south-eastern
boundary of Rural Section 112 and the north-eastern side
of Langdon’s Road ; thence proceeding south-easterly along
the said north-eastern side of Langdon’s Road to the north-
western side of Main North Road ; thence north-easterly
along that side of road aforesaid to the middle of the Papanui
Drain ; thence south-easterly along the middle of that drain
through Rural Sections 308, 307, 302, and 276 to the south-
western boundary of Rural Section 1048 ; thence south-
easterly along that boundary to the north-western corner of
Lot 25 on deposited plan 6279 ; thence along the north-
western boundary of Lots 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, and 18
on the said plan 6279 and the production of that boundary
to a point on the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 on deposited
plan 6313 ; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern
boundary of the said Lot 1, plan 6313, and Lots 17, 16, 15,
and 14 on the said plan 6279, and that boundary produced
to the south-eastern side of McFadden’s Road ; thence along
the south-eastern and south-western sides of McFadden’s
Road aforesaid to and across Innes Road ; thence easterly
along the south-eastern side of Innes Road to R.S. 345A ;
thence along the south-western boundaries of Rural Sections
345A and 2795 to and across Westminster Street to the south-
western side of Shirley Road ; thence along the south-western
side of Shirley Road aforesaid to the south-eastern side of
Thornton Street ; thence north-easterly to and along the
north-western boundary of Lots 1 and 34 on deposited plan
9658 to the centre of Dudley Creek ; thence north-easterly
along the centre of that creek to the southern boundary of
part Lot 1 on deposited plan 8784 ; thence westerly, northerly,
and easterly along the southern, western, and northern bound-
aries of the said part Lot 1, plan 8784, to Hills Road ; thence
northerly along the western side of that road to a point in line
with the northern boundary of Lot 21, deposited plan 11557 ;
thence easterly across Hills Road to and along the northern
boundary of Lot 21, plan 11557 aforesaid, to its north-eastern
corner ; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of
Lots 21 to 1 on plan 11557, Lots 3, 2, and 1 on deposited
plan 10870, Lots 1, 2, and 3 on deposited plan 7874, the
northern and eastern boundary of Lot 2 and the eastern and
southern boundary of Lot 1 on deposited plan 11452, and the
eastern boundary of Lot 5 on plan 7874 aforesaid to the
easternmost corner of Lot 6 on said plan 7874 ; thence
easterly along the northern boundary of Lots 7, 8, and 9,

easterly along the southern side of that road and its production
to the centre of North Parade ; thence southerly along the
centre of North Parade aforesaid to and along the centre of
Banks Avenue to a point opposite the confluence of Dudley
Creek and the River Avon ; thence across the said River
Avon and easterly generally along its right bank to a point
in line with the western side of Kerr’s Road ; thence northerly
by a right line to the centre of the River Avon and easterly
generally along the centre of that river to a point on the south-
eastern side of the Bower Bridge near the westernmost corner
of Reserve No. 3061 ; thence north-easterly along the said
south-eastern side of that bridge and its production to the
New Brighton Road ; thence south-easterly along the south-
western side of that road to a point in line with the eastern
side of Racecourse Road ; thence northerly to and along the
said eastern side of that road to Beach Road ; thence
easterly along the southern side of that road and its pro-
duction to low-water mark of the sea ; thence south-easterly
and north-westerly generally by the low-water mark of the
sea and low-water mark of the estuary of the Heathcote and
Avon Rivers to a point in line with the north-western boundary
of Rural Section No. 11213 ; thence by the left bank of the
River Avon to a point distant 2 chains from the south-eastern
side of the Bower Bridge aforesaid ; thence south-westerly
by a right line parallel to and distant 2 chains from the said
south-eastern side of that bridge to the south-western side of
the towpath ; thence generally westerly along the said south-
western side of the towpath across Wainoni Road to the
southernmost corner of Rural Section 1151 ; thence continuing
along the south-eastern side of Wainoni Road and Avonside
Drive to the eastern boundary of Lot 7, deposited plan 2607 ;
thence generally southerly along the eastern boundary of
Lots 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and part Lot 2, deposited plan 2607 afores-
said, and Lots 5 and 4, deposited plan 7837, to the north-

south-easterly along that boundary and its production to a
point on the south-eastern side of Wainoni Road ; thence
