Appointment of Deputy Chairman of Armed Forces Appeal Board.

Wellington, 7th February, 1942.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, has been pleased to appoint Samuel Lewis, Barrister, of Cambridge, to be Deputy Chairman, No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board, to act in the absence of Stanley Logan Paterson, Stipendiary Magistrate, the Chairman of the said Board, such person to hold office during pleasure.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—
Constable William Ernest Fell
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Chatham Islands for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, and Clerk of the Licensing Committee for the Special Licensing District of Chatham Islands for the purposes of the Licensing Act, 1908, on and from the 8th day of January, 1942.
Arthur Wallace Murphy
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Mount Benger at Miller’s Flat for the purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, on and from the 8th day of January, 1942.
Constable Alexander McLellan
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Coromandel for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Court at Coromandel for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 28th day of January, 1942.
Harry Colin Wood
to be Registrar of Marriages for the District of Waipu for the purposes of the Marriage Act, 1908, and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Waipu for the purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, on and from the 20th day of January, 1942.
Peggy Yvonne Leeder (Miss)
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Hamilton, on and from the 16th day of January, 1942.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.
PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Richard Yeoman, of Taneatua.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.
PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Leonard Albert May, of Awakino, and Norman Keith Abbott, of Tokoroa.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 25 of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I hereby notify that two copies of the amending rules made by the Southland Acclimatization Society on the 26th day of May, 1941, have been forwarded to me and were approved on the 17th day of February, 1942.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks I and VI, Arawata Survey District, for Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Okuru and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
