ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 9th day of December, 1942.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.

APPENDIX III.—SUBSTANTIVE RATES OF PAY: NAVAL RATINGS AND ROYAL MARINES.

SUBJECT to the provisions of Article 130 of these regulations and Navy Order 221, the following shall be the daily rates of pay of radio mechanics in the Royal New Zealand Navy:—

Appointment of Members of Board of Health under the Health Act, 1920.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Health Act, 1920, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Frederick Castle, Esquire, J.P.,

to be members of the Board of Health for three years from the 1st day of December, 1942.

Certifying Inebriates’ Homes.

WHEREAS by section three of the Reformatory Institutions Act, 1909 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor-General, on the application of any person or society desirous of establishing or maintaining an Inebriates’ Home under the said Act, may by warrant gazetted, if satisfied as to the fitness of the Home and of the person or society proposing to establish or maintain it, certify it as an Inebriates’ Home under the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, on the application of the Salvation Army, and being satisfied as aforesaid, do hereby certify the following Homes to be Inebriates’ Homes under the said Act:—

The Salvation Army Men’s Industrial Home, Epsom, Auckland.

The Salvation Army Men’s Industrial Home, Miramar, Wellington.

The Salvation Army Men’s Industrial Home, Addington, Christchurch.

“Paulina” Women’s Industrial Home, 194 Owen Street, Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 9th day of December, 1942.

Land permanently reserved in the North Auckland Land District for Recreation Purposes.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at the expiration of one month, but not later than six months, after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was, by the Warrant dated the fourth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, and published in the Gazette of the sixth day of that month, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for recreation purposes:

Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto for recreation purposes, for which purpose the said land was so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.


SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Bay of Islands County, situated in Block V, Russell Survey District, containing by admeasurement a total area of 10 acres 3 roods and 12 perches, more or less, being Sections 1 to 8 (inclusive), Block VI; Sections 1 to 4 (inclusive), Block XII; Sections 1 to 8 (inclusive), Block XIII; and Sections 4 to 17 (inclusive) and 20, Block XV, Town of Opua. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/1087A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (North Auckland plans S.O. 16553¹ and S.O. 32341.)

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 15th day of December, 1942.
