HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Lieutenant-Colonel (late Colonel, 2nd N.Z.E.F.) L. H. Jardine, D.S.O., M.C., N.Z. Temporary Staff, is struck off the strength of the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, dated 15th October, 1941, is reposted to the N.Z. Temporary Staff with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and is appointed Commandant, Army School of Instruction, Trentham, dated 16th October, 1941.

Lieutenant J. F. Cody, M.M., Quartermaster, No. 3 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham, is granted the temporary rank of Captain while so employed. Dated 24th October, 1941.

Lieutenant E. L. Barker, Adjutant, No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, is granted the temporary rank of Captain while so employed. Dated 28th October, 1941.

Lieutenant N. L. Tyler relinquishes the appointment of Area Quartermaster, No. 6 Area, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 6 Area, Wanganui. Dated 3rd October, 1941.

Murray Carteret Tollemache to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed General Staff Officer, 3rd Grade (Home Guard), Area No. 2. Dated 20th October, 1941.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (on prob.), 3rd Field Company, are confirmed :—

George Webb to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 6th (Works) Company. Dated 20th September, 1941.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT (CITY OF WELLINGTON’S OWN).

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) N. F. A. Row, 2nd Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 17th September, 1941.

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.

Albert James Ryan to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 2nd September, 1941.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (temp.), and are posted to the 5th Reserve Mechanical Transport Company. Dated 1st October, 1941 :—

James Nelmes McRae Grant to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Officer Commanding, 2nd Field Hygiene Section. Dated 8th October, 1941.

Arthur Jeromson to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Officer Commanding, 5th Field Hygiene Section. Dated 8th October, 1941.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Rev. J. Dennis, Chaplain, 3rd Class (Methodist), is transferred from Area 6 to Area 10. Dated 23rd October, 1941.

OFFICERS STRUCK OFF THE STRENGTH OF THE 2ND N.Z. EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

Captain B. A. N. Woods is struck off the strength of the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force and is posted to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 7th October, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant C. J. Brownie is struck off the strength of the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, dated 16th October, 1941, and is posted to the 3rd Composite Company, N.Z. Army Service Corps, as M.T. Instructor. Dated 17th October, 1941.
