Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Relinquishments of Temporary Rank of Officers on Active Service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force Overseas.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and relinquishments of temporary rank of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 42:—

APPOINTMENTS.

Commands and Staff.

Lieutenant-Colonel S. F. Allen relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding, N.Z. Corps of Signals. Dated 27th September, 1941.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) G. L. Agar, O.B.E., is appointed Officer Commanding, N.Z. Corps of Signals. Dated 27th September, 1941.

Major R. L. C. Grant is appointed second in command, N.Z. Divisional Signals. Dated 27th September, 1941.

Captain R. W. Dunbar, M.B.E., Northern Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of second in command, N.Z. Reception Depot, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 6th October, 1941.

Captain C. H. Chapman, M.C., N.Z. Artillery, is appointed second in command, N.Z. Reception Depot, and is seconded. Dated 6th October, 1941.

Captain (temp. Major) D. E. Harper, N.Z. Ordnance Corps, is appointed Deputy Assistant Director of Ordnance Services, 2nd N.Z. Division, and retains the temporary rank of Major. Dated 28th July, 1941.

Lieutenant P. C. Griffiths, Northern Infantry, is appointed Officer Commanding, N.Z. Base Provost Company, and is seconded. Dated 20th September, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant A. E. Hogg relinquishes command of the N.Z. Base Provost Company, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 20th September, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant C. Meiklejohn, Central Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of Weapon Training Officer, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, is appointed Weapon Training Officer, Headquarters, N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, and remains seconded. Dated 12th September, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant S. G. A. Joll relinquishes the appointment of Legal Staff Officer, 2nd N.Z. Division, is appointed Legal Staff Officer, Maadi Camp, and remains seconded. Dated 11th September, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant C. B. Barrowclough is appointed Legal Staff Officer, 2nd N.Z. Division, and is seconded. Dated 11th September, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. P. Te Punga to be Captain, vice Captain F. Baker, seconded. Dated 5th August, 1941.

N.Z. Medical Corps.

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) G. W. Gower, M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S. (Edin.), to be Colonel to complete establishment. Dated 1st October, 1941.

Lieutenant R. A. Wilson, M.B., Ch.B., to be Captain. Dated 4th September, 1941.

N.Z. Army Nursing Service.

Staff Nurse F. M. Shaw to be Sister to complete establishment. Dated 2nd May, 1940.

TEMPORARY RANK RELINQUISHED.

Captain (temp. Major) R. R. Atkinson, N.Z. Divisional Cavalry, relinquishes the temporary rank of Major. Dated 30th September, 1941.

APPOINTMENT TO A COMMISSION.

TRANSFERS.

Lieutenant-Colonel S. F. Allen, N.Z. Divisional Signals, is transferred to the Central Infantry with same relative seniority as at present. Dated 29th September, 1941.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) A. W. Greville, Northern Infantry, is transferred to the Central Infantry with same relative seniority as at present. Dated 29th September, 1941.

Lieutenant A. S. Frame, N.Z. Divisional Signals, is transferred to the Central Infantry with same relative seniority as at present. Dated 29th September, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant C. M. Arnold, Southern Infantry Training Depot, is transferred to the N.Z. Ordnance Corps with same relative seniority as at present. Dated 24th September, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant F. A. Jarrett, Southern Infantry Training Depot, is transferred to the N.Z. Ordnance Corps with same relative seniority as at present. Dated 24th September, 1941.

APPOINTMENTS.

Commands and Staff.

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Brigadier) A. S. Wilder, D.S.O., M.C., V.D., Central Infantry, assumed the duties of Commandant, Maadi Camp, in addition to his present appointment as Commandant, Training Group, Maadi Camp, vice Brigadier A. S. Falconer, D.S.O., M.C., evacuated to hospital. Dated 8th October, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel A. A. Tennent, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes command of No. 1 N.Z. Convalescent Depot, and is appointed to command 4th Field Ambulance, vice Lieutenant-Colonel P. V. Graves, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, placed on the New Zealand Roll. Dated 12th October, 1941.

Major C. N. Watson, M.C., Southern Infantry, is appointed second in command, 23rd (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion. Dated 25th September, 1941.

Major A. L. de B. Noakes, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed to command No. 1 N.Z. Convalescent Depot. Dated 12th October, 1941.

Captain N. P. Manning, N.Z. Ordnance Corps, is appointed Deputy Assistant Director of Ordnance Services (E), 2nd N.Z. Division. Dated 8th October, 1941.
