Public Service Commissioner appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
John Henry Boyes, Esquire,
to be the Commissioner for the purposes of the Public Service Act, 1912. The appointment is for a period of seven years as on and from the 14th day of October, 1941.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and relinquishments of temporary rank of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 36 :-
APPOINTMENTS.
Commands and Staff.
Colonel A. C. McKillop, E.D., M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes command of No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital and is placed on the New Zealand Roll. Dated 10th June, 1941.
Lieutenant-Colonel T. D. M. Stout, D.S.O., O.B.E., M.B., M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.R.C.P. (Lond.), N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Officer in Charge, Surgical Division, No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital. Dated 10th August, 1941.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Boyd, M.C., M.D., M.R.C.P., F.R.A.C.P., relinquishes the appointment of Officer in Charge, Medical Division, No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital, and is appointed to command No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital, vice Colonel A. C. McKillop, E.D., M.B., Ch.B., placed on the New Zealand Roll. Dated 10th August, 1941.
Memorandum.—Lieutenant-Colonel T. D. M. Stout, D.S.O., O.B.E., M.B., M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.R.C.P. (Lond.), N.Z. Medical Corps, performed the duties of Officer Commanding No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital from 10th June, 1941, to 10th August, 1941.
Major R. H. Packwood, Railway Construction and Maintenance Group, N.Z. Engineers, relinquishes command of the 9th Railway Survey Company, N.Z.E., is detached for special duty with General Headquarters, Middle East Forces, and is seconded. Dated 18th August, 1941.
Captain R. G. McNab, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, is appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, Headquarters, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and is seconded. Dated 18th August, 1941.

2nd N.Z. Divisional Cavalry.
2nd Lieutenant D. Barrett is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant while Quartermaster of the Long-range Desert Group. Dated 18th August, 1941.
N.Z. Artillery.
Lieutenant D. D. Twigg is granted the temporary rank of Captain while acting as Adjutant, 4th Field Regiment. Dated 2nd August, 1941.
N.Z. Engineers.
Lieutenant K. Rix-Trott is granted the temporary rank of Captain while second in command, Engineer Training Depot. Dated 17th August, 1941.
Infantry.
18th (Auckland) Battalion.
Major J. N. Peart is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while commanding the Battalion. Dated 14th July, 1941.
26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion.
Lieutenant G. C. Weston is granted the temporary rank of Captain while acting as Staff Captain, 6th N.Z. Infantry Brigade. Dated 1st August, 1941.
28th (Maori) Battalion.
Lieutenant C. M. Bennett is granted the temporary rank of Captain to complete establishment. Dated 27th July, 1941.
N.Z. Medical Corps.
The undermentioned Lieutenant-Colonels are granted the temporary rank of Colonel to complete establishment. Dated 10th August, 1941 :-
