Captain R. R. Atkinson is granted the temporary rank of Major while commanding a Squadron. Dated 27th June, 1941.
Lieutenant J. H. Sutherland, M.C., is granted the temporary rank of Captain while on Headquarters of Long-range Desert Group, and remains seconded. Dated 1st July, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant P. McIntyre is granted the temporary rank of Captain while employed as Official War Artist, and remains seconded. Dated 9th July, 1941.

His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and relinquishments of temporary rank of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 37:β
APPOINTMENTS.
Commands and Staff.
Major A. R. Cockerell, D.S.O., 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, 2nd Grade, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, and remains seconded. Dated 25th August, 1941.
Major E. R. Harford, 2nd N.Z. Divisional Cavalry, relinquishes command of Divisional Cavalry Squadron, Composite Training Depot, is appointed second in command, Composite Training Depot, and remains seconded. Dated 26th August, 1941.
Major R. W. Sharp, 7th Anti-tank Regiment, N.Z. Artillery, is appointed to command the Artillery Training Depot temporarily. Dated 9th August, 1941.
Major J. M. A. Samson, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of second in command of the Battalion, is appointed General Staff Officer, 2nd Grade, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, and is seconded. Dated 25th August, 1941.
Major B. J. Mathewson, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Rest Camp, is appointed second in command, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 29th August, 1941.
Major R. L. McGaffin, 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of second in command, Composite Training Depot, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 16th August, 1941.
Major S. J. Kelly, Southern Infantry Training Depot, is appointed to command 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Rest Camp, and is seconded. Dated 29th August, 1941.
Captain H. H. Parata, 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of Transport Officer, 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 16th August, 1941.
Captain D. J. Robertson, 6th Field Regiment, N.Z. Artillery, is seconded for special duty with General Headquarters, Middle East Forces. Dated 11th August, 1941.
Lieutenant D. J. Parsons, 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion, is appointed Transport Officer, 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and is seconded. Dated 24th August, 1941.
