OFFICER CEASING TO BE SECONDED TO THE 2ND N.Z. EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. Bagnall ceases to be seconded to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is reported to the N.Z. Temporary Staff with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, with pay and allowances of a Major, and is appointed to command No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 10th August, 1941.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

STAFF.

Major S. C. V. W. Sugden, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Staff Officer, Training, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, vice Lieutenant (temp. Major) T. P. Laffey, N.Z. Staff Corps. Dated 7th July, 1941.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Captain John Lawson Turnbull, Retired List, to be Major (temp.), and is appointed Staff Officer, 2nd Grade, Home Guard, at Army Headquarters. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Euan William Lucie-Smith, M.C., late Captain, Royal Field Artillery, to be Major (temp.), and is appointed Staff Officer, 2nd Grade, Home Guard, at Army Headquarters. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Captain M. N. Wallace relinquishes the appointments of Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), and Assistant Area Officer, No. 1 Area, Auckland, dated 28th May, 1941, is appointed Camp Commandant, Military Camp, Avondale, and is granted the temporary rank of Major while so employed, dated 1st June, 1941.

Captain C. A. Rattray relinquishes the appointment of P. and R.T. Instructor, Training Cadre, Mobilization Camp, Burnham, and is seconded for duty with the Raratonga Defence Force. Dated 30th July, 1941.

Captain G. Good relinquishes the appointment of Company Commander, 4th Company (Tauranga), National Military Reserve, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 4 Area, Hamilton. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Captain C. P. Harper relinquishes the appointment of District Mechanical Transport Technical Officer, Northern Military District, and is appointed District Transport Officer, Northern Military District. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Lieutenant H. H. Shaw relinquishes the appointment of District Transport Officer, Northern Military District, and is appointed Attesting Officer, No. 1 Area, Auckland. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Lieutenant E. de la Mare relinquishes the appointment of Platoon Commander, Guards, Vital Points, Northern Military District, is appointed District Mechanical Transport Technical Officer, Northern Military District, vice Captain C. P. Harper, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain while so employed. Dated 1st August, 1941.

George Eric Silke Brodie to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Assistant District Transport Officer, Northern Military District. Dated 4th August, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp.) W. J. C. Davidge, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), Auckland, vice Captain M. N. Wallace, N.Z. Temporary Staff. Dated 28th May, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp.) J. S. Laing, 10th Heavy Regiment, N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Technical Searchlight Officer, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 24th July, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp.) W. J. Taylor, 4th Signals Company, N.Z. Corps of Signals, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Adjutant, 4th Signals Company, N.Z. Corps of Signals. Dated 1st August, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) B. J. Hanna, 1st Composite Company, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Area Mechanical Transport Officer, Northern Military District. Dated 7th August, 1941.

Lieutenant W. A. S. de C. Mills, Retired List, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 1 Area, Auckland. Dated 8th August, 1941.

The commission granted to 2nd Lieutenant R. J. Dawes is hereby cancelled. Dated 18th July, 1941.

Humphrey John Moynihan to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 11 Area, Dunedin. Dated 1st August, 1941.

COMMANDS.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. A. D. Iverach, M.C., M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes command of the Otago University Medical Company, N.Z.M.C., and the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Southern Military District. Dated 5th July, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. Hercus, D.S.O., O.B.E., V.D., M.D., B.D.Sc., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed to command the Otago University Medical Company, N.Z.M.C. Dated 5th July, 1941.

THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain W. Greenall is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 1. Dated 12th August, 1941.

N.Z. ARTILLERY.
