On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments, except as hereinafter provided, shall be closed for the sale of oil fuel during the whole of every Sunday, and shall on every Friday be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 7.30 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on every Friday, and shall on every other day of the week be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 7.30 a.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days: Provided (1) that in the event of a day other than Friday being observed as the late closing night for shops, such establishments shall close at 9 p.m. on such other day and at 6 p.m. on Friday; (2) that on the last day of each month when such day coincides with the expiration of the currency of petrol coupons such establishments shall close at 9 p.m. on such day, except that where such day is a Sunday they shall close at 9 p.m. on the immediately preceding Saturday; and (3) that on the day immediately preceding each of the following days—namely, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, and Christmas Day—such establishments shall close at 9 p.m., except that where New Year’s Day and Christmas Day fall on a Monday they shall close at 9 p.m. on the immediately preceding Saturday.

In every successive week commencing upon the coming into force of this Order two of the establishments hereinafter named shall, in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out, be opened for the sale of oil fuel on every Sunday from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m., and on every other day of the week shall remain open for the sale of oil fuel till 11 p.m. in lieu of the closing-hours set out for the respective days in clause 4 hereof: provided that in every successive week the two establishments effected by this clause or their nominees shall between 11 p.m. on each week-day and the opening hour on the following day fixed by clause 4 hereof, and between 8 p.m. on Sunday and the opening hour on Monday fixed by clause 4 hereof, sell oil fuel upon the request of a purchaser, and shall for that week display a notice, which shall be lighted at night, indicating a telephone number or other satisfactory means by which an attendant may be summoned to supply oil fuel.

The arrangements as to nominees, display and lighting of notices, and means by which an attendant may be summoned for the purposes of the proviso to clause 5 hereof shall be subject to the approval of the District Inspector of Factories at Hamilton.

Nothing in this Order shall apply to any retail licensee in respect of the supply by him of oil fuel to any rental cars owned by him and normally operated from Hamilton.

On receiving a request signed by a majority of the members from time to time of the Petrol Section Committee of the South Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association (Inc.) the Minister may extend the hours during which oil fuel may be sold on one day during any particular week. Notice of any decision by the Minister to extend such hours shall be advertised in the daily newspaper circulating in the locality concerned not later than five days prior to the date on which such extension takes place.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Geraldine 15-mile Radius) Order, 1941.
PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations (No. 2) 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Geraldine 15-mile Radius) Order 1941.

This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate within fifteen miles of the post-office in the Borough of Geraldine.

This Order shall come into force on the 8th day of September, 1941.

On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments, except as hereinafter provided, shall be closed for the sale of oil fuel for the whole of every Sunday, and shall on the day on which shops in the locality in which any such establishment is situated generally observe their late night be open for sale of oil fuel from 7.30 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on such day, and shall on every other day of the week be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 7.30 a.m. till 8 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days.

The establishments hereinafter mentioned shall in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out be exempted from the provisions of this Order.

Rangitaiki Land Drainage.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.
I, JAMES GILLISPIE BARCLAY, acting for the Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1941, to 31st March, 1942, as described in the Schedule hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 30th day of August, 1941, together with the special rates already made and levied.
The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Thorndon, near Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
SCHEDULE.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny (2·78d.) in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, one penny and eighty-six one-hundredths of a penny (1·86d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, ninety-three one-hundredths of a penny (0·93d.) in the pound.
Class D.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class D, thirty-one one-hundredths of a penny (0·31d.) in the pound.
