Regulations under the Naval Defence Act, 1913, amended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 23rd day of July, 1941.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.

SCHEDULE.

Regulations for the Government and Payment of the New Zealand Naval Forces, 1939.

Article 292, insert:—

  1. Travelling Expenses: Visits by Relatives.—Free rail, steamer, and road-motor service warrants are allowable to next-of-kin of naval personnel who are dangerously ill in hospital either during their service or while retained in hospital after discharge.

  2. The class of warrants to be issued to next-of-kin will correspond to the class which would be issued to the officer or rating concerned if he was travelling on duty.

  3. Warrants may be issued to both parents or guardians of personnel who are single and, in addition, to the wife where personnel are married.

  4. Warrants may also be issued to any other person desirous of visiting personnel dangerously ill provided that the number of warrants authorized in paragraph 3 is not exceeded.

  5. All cases coming within the above category are to be reported by signal to Navy Office. Commanding Officers are not to advise relatives that free travelling is allowed until authorized by Navy Office.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint the following to be Assessors for the districts set opposite their names:—

Setting aside Native Land as a Native Reservation.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section five of the Native Purposes Act, 1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Native freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Native reservation for the common use of the Ngati-Kinohaku Subtribe as a meeting-house site and meeting-place.

Controlling Local Authority appointed under Section 63 of the Licensing Act, 1908.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section sixty-three of the Licensing Act, 1908, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the Christchurch City Council to be the controlling local authority under the said Act throughout the Avon Licensing District, and to make all necessary appointments and to do all things required for the conduct of the election of the Licensing Committee, and for the general administration of the said Act within such licensing district.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 23rd day of July, 1941.

Officers authorized to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Child Welfare Act, 1925, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby reappoint the several persons whose names and addresses are set out in the first and second columns respectively of the Schedule hereto as persons to be associated with the respective Children’s Courts named in the third column of the said Schedule: And I declare that the said respective reappointments are made generally in relation to all matters that may be dealt with by such respective Courts; And I further declare that the said respective reappointments shall be for one year ending the 30th day of June, 1942.
