CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.

Reserve 4059, Blocks XII and XVI, Rangiora Survey District: Area, 182 acres 3 roods 33 perches, more or less.

Also part Reserve 4060, Block XVI, Rangiora Survey District, containing by admeasurement 67 acres 3 roods 10 perches, more or less, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by Beach Road 1812·6 links, towards the east by the road reserved along the sea-coast 3797·8 links, towards the south by other part of Reserve 4060, 1773·8 links, and towards the west by Reserve 3658, 3767·0 links.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/75/11A, deposited in Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. (Recreation.)

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

Sections 37 and 1541B, Block I, Town of Ranfurly: Area, 13 acres 2 roods 29·9 perches, more or less. (Aerodrome.)

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Section 64, Block V, Wyndham Survey District: Area, 27·4 perches, more or less. (Addition to a public-school site, Glenham.)

Cyril Wise, of Greenpark,

to be an officer for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act in respect of the North Canterbury Acclimatization District.

Revocation of Fisheries Appointment.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has revoked the appointment of

Samuel Hamilton McCarroll, of Maheno,

as an Inspector of Sea-fishing for the purposes of Part I of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and as an officer for the purposes of Part II of the same Act in respect of the Waitaki, Waimate, and Otago Acclimatization Districts.

Appointments in the New Zealand Naval Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments and promotions in the New Zealand Naval Forces:—

Lieutenant-Commander Frank Mountifort Beasley, R.N., lent New Zealand Naval Forces, to date 10th April, 1941, as Staff Officer (Intelligence), Wellington.

Lieutenant-Commander Edward Adams Nicholson, R.N., appointed H.M.S. “Philomel II” additional for duty in Navy Office, Wellington, as Station Signal and W/T. Officer in continuation, to date 10th May, 1941.

Lieutenant Denys Evelyn Barton, R.N., lent New Zealand Naval Forces, and appointed H.M.S. “Leander,” to date 11th June, 1941.

Warrant Telegraphist Halson Philpott, appointed H.M.S. “Philomel II” additional for duty at Navy Office, Wellington, as Wireless Intelligence Officer, to date 1st May, 1941. To be paid allowance laid down in New Zealand Naval Regulations, Appendix II, No. 32A, from 26th May, 1941. Promoted to Commissioned Telegraphist, to date 15th June, 1941, and reappointed on promotion. Granted temporary rank of Telegraphist Lieutenant while holding present appointment, to date 15th June, 1941. (To receive pay as Commissioned Telegraphist.)

Warrant Electrician Joseph Foster Swift, R.N., appointed H.M.S. “Philomel” additional on relief for duty with Naval Officer in Charge, Auckland. (Date to be reported.)

Temporary Acting Warrant Telegraphist William Lewis Brewer, D.S.M., appointed H.M.S. “Philomel II” temporarily, for duty at Navy Office, Wellington, to date 7th June, 1941.

Chief Electrical Artificer William Ralph Ellis, Official Number P/M. 35558, promoted Temporary Acting Warrant Electrician, to date 1st June, 1941, and appointed H.M.S. “Achilles.”

Lieutenant Henry Charles Brian Wycherley, B.D.S., New Zealand Dental Corps, seconded to New Zealand Naval Forces, to date 4th June, 1941, and appointed H.M.S. “Philomel,” to date 4th June, 1941.
