Order declaring prohibited Places under the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939.
Pursuant to the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939, Amendment No. 1, the Minister of Defence doth hereby declare the places specified in the Schedule hereto to be prohibited places for the purposes of the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND DISTRICT.
(1) Motuihi Island.—Comprising all that area in the Hauraki Gulf, situated in Block XI and XIII, Rangitoto Survey District, containing by measurement 441 acres, more or less, and being the island known as Motuihi.
(2) Tiritiri Island (Port War Signal Station).—Comprising all that area in the Hauraki Gulf, situated in Block III Tiritiri Survey District, and being the island known as Tiritiri, together with all rocks above mean high-water mark in the vicinity of that island.
(3) Cuvier Island.—Comprising all that area known as Cuvier Island, together with all rocks above mean high-water mark in the vicinity of that island.
(4) Moko Hinau Islets.—Comprising all that area being the group of islands and rocks above mean high-water mark known as Moko Hinau.
(5) Cape Brett (Port War Signal Station).—Comprising all that area in the Bay of Islands County containing by admeasurement 54 acres 3 roods, more or less, and being Section l, Block XIIIA, Bay of Islands Survey District.
WELLINGTON DISTRICT.
(6) Tinakori Hills (Radio Station).—All those pieces of land situate in the City of Wellington, containing altogether approximately 61 acres, and more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

(7) Baring Head (Coast Defence Area).—First, all that piece of land containing 27 acres 3 roods and 10 perches, more or less, being parts of Subdivisions No. 1 and No. 2 of the Parangarahu No. 1A Block, and being parts of the lands comprised in certificates of title, Vol. 222, folio 142, and Vol. 218, folio 106, Wellington District Land Registry; as the same is delineated in plan annexed to Proclamation recorded in the said Registry under No. 2174, and therein coloured red in outline.
Secondly, all that piece of land containing 1 acre, or thereabouts, being part of Subdivision 1A 3 of the Parangarahu Block, and part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 220, folio 290, Wellington District Land Registry; as the same is delineated in the plan annexed to Proclamation recorded in the said Registry under No. 2739, and therein coloured purple.
Thirdly, all that piece of land containing 42 acres 2 roods, more or less, being parts of Subdivisions No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 of the Parangarahu No. 1A Block, and being parts of the lands comprised in the aforesaid certificates of title, Vol. 222, folio 142, Vol. 218, folio 106, and Vol. 220, folio 290; as the same is delineated in the plan annexed to Proclamation recorded in the said Registry under No. 2765, and therein coloured red in outline.
(8) Stephens Island.—Comprising all that area in Cook Strait containing 370 acres, more or less, and being the island known as Stephens Island.
(9) R.N.V.R. Headquarters.—The whole of the upper storey and of the stairway leading to the upper storey of the building owned by H.M. the King, the lower portion of which is occupied by the Public Works Department as workshops, the said building being situated adjacent to Hinemoa Street in the City of Wellington, the land on which it is erected being part of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 251, folio 184, Wellington District Land Registry.
CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
(10) Navy House, Lyttelton.—All that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 17·22 perches, more or less, being part Reserve 32, situated in the Borough of Lyttelton, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the south-western side of Norwich Quay, distant 232·1 links, in a north-westerly direction from the south-western corner of the junction of Norwich Quay and Oxford Street; thence north-westerly along the said south-western side of Norwich Quay, a distance of 118·18 links; thence south-westerly on a bearing of 199° 41' 30", a distance of 91·08 links, to the north-eastern boundary of Reserve 872; thence south-easterly along that boundary a distance of 118·18 links; and thence north-easterly on a bearing of 19° 41' 40", a distance of 91·08 links, to the point of commencement.
(11) Bluff Hill Defence Area.—Being all that piece of land in the Borough of Bluff containing 9 acres 2 roods 25 perches, more or less, being the whole of Section 25 in Block I of the Campbelltown Hundred, known as a Signal Station and Lighthouse Reserve.
(12) Taiaroa Head Defence Area.—Being all that area commencing from the south-western boundary of Section 16, Block A 2, Otakou Native Reserve, at its junction with Otago Harbour, and bounded on the west generally by the entrance to Otago Harbour; thence on the north and east generally by the Pacific Ocean to the north-western boundary of Section 12, Block A 2, Otakou Native Reserve; thence on the south-east and east by said Section 12 to the north-eastern boundary of Section 15 of the same block; thence on the south-west by Section 15 of the same block to the starting point.
