Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks VI and X, Geraldine Survey District, for the Purposes of Linen-flax Development (Geraldine Factory).

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a linen-flax factory—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Geraldine and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Taranaki Tinsmithing, Coppersmithing, and Sheet-metal Working (Dairying Industry) Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941.

WHEREAS it appears to me to be expedient for maintaining supplies and services essential to the life of the community, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, pursuant to the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, do hereby order as follows:—

  1. This order may be cited as the Taranaki Tinsmithing, Coppersmithing, and Sheet-metal Working (Dairying Industry) Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941.

  2. This order applies to the Hawera Branch of the National Dairy Association of New Zealand, Limited, and to the employees of such branch who come within the scope of the Taranaki, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago and South-land Tinsmiths, Coppersmiths, and Sheet-metal Workers’ Award dated the 3rd day of May, 1940, and recorded in Book of Awards, Volume XL, page 458.

  3. The provisions of all Acts and all regulations thereunder, and all awards and industrial agreements under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, and of all other voluntary agreements affecting conditions of employment, shall be and are hereby suspended in so far as any such provisions operate to prevent or restrict the employment of the workers referred to in clause 2 hereof for three hours’ overtime a night on three nights of the week, Monday to Friday inclusive, and for eight hours on Saturdays between the hours of 7.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at time and a half rates.

  4. This Order shall be deemed to have come into effect on and from the 9th day of June, 1941.

  5. This Order shall remain in operation only until the 30th day of November, 1941.
