Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Lower Hutt for Housing Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 32 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Lower Hutt and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block IV, Belmont Survey District, for Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Lower Hutt and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Town District of Pleasant Point.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Town District of Pleasant Point was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, on the 17th day of May, 1941: And whereas the Clerk of the Pleasant Point Town Board has notified me that the majority of votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said town district:

Now, therefore, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said town district as from the 23rd day of June, 1941.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.—Fixing the Closing-hours of Fruiterers’ Shops within the Borough of Hastings.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Hastings has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops in the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6.30 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 11 p.m., with the following exceptions:— (1) On the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.; and (2) During the weeks in which Christmas Day and New Year’s Day occur there shall be no fixed closing-hour: And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 7th day of July, 1941, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed accordingly.

Hauraki Plains Rating District.—Penalty on Overdue Rates.

Wellington, 11th June, 1941.

IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ending 31st March, 1941, unpaid on 5th July, 1941.

Rates may be paid at any money-order office, or to the Collector of Rates, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland C.1.

Portion of Maniapoto Consolidation Scheme confirmed.

In the matter of section 161 of the Native Land Act, 1931, and in the matter of an application to prepare a scheme of consolidation in respect of Rangitoto-Tuhua 77b 1a and other blocks.

NOTICE is hereby given that a scheme of consolidation in part dated the 17th day of November, 1940, dealing with Rangitoto-Tuhua 77b 1a and other blocks within the Waikato-Maniapoto Native Land Court District, comprising land included in the “X” Series of the Maniapoto Consolidation Scheme and being the eighth instalment of the said consolidation scheme, having been prepared by the Native Land Court in accordance with the above-mentioned Act and submitted under the seal of the said Court to the Native Minister, J. Henry Greathead Rex Mason, acting for the Native Minister, being satisfied that the scheme so submitted is just and equitable and is in the public interest, do hereby confirm the portion of the said scheme of consolidation which was so submitted on the 17th day of November, 1940.
