Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Major J. N. Henry, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Camp Commandant, Foxton, and is appointed second in command, Army School of Instruction, Trentham. Dated 3rd June, 1941.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Major H. E. Suckling, B.D.S., N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the title of Assistant Director of Dental Services, and assumes that of Assistant Director of Dental Services (Equipment and Stores), Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 1st June, 1941.

Captain (temp. Major) O. E. L. Rout, B.D.S., N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Principal Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Trentham, is appointed Assistant Director of Dental Services (Administration), Army Headquarters, Wellington, and retains the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 1st June, 1941.

Captain D. W. Earle, N.Z. Dental Corps, is appointed Principal Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Trentham, vice Captain (temp. Major) O. E. L. Rout, B.D.S., N.Z. Dental Corps, and is granted the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 1st June, 1941.

Captain K. C. Hollis, M.C., is appointed Officer Commanding, No. 3 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham, and is granted the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 1st June, 1941.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, N.Z. Dental Corps, to be Captains. Dated 31st May, 1941:—

Lieutenant (temp.) R. C. Wood, 2nd Battalion, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own), to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 7 Area, Masterton, vice Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp.) C. F. Rogers, N.Z. Permanent Staff. Dated 17th May, 1941.

Ernest Victor Marriott to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Assistant District Transport Officer, Central Military District, Wellington. Dated 5th May, 1941.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 39, dated 8th May, 1941, relative to Lieutenant A. A. Barwick, is hereby cancelled.

Hon. Lieutenant (Bandmaster) F. Kirkby, The Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles, to be Hon. Lieutenant, and is appointed Bandmaster, Waiouru Military Camp Band. Dated 21st May, 1941.


COMMANDS.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. Wyman, D.S.O., V.D., The Waikato Mounted Rifles, relinquishes command of the Regiment, and is posted to the Retired List. Dated 17th January, 1941.

Captain (temp. Major) E. J. McGregor, M.C., E.D., The Waikato Mounted Rifles, is appointed to command the Regiment. Dated 18th January, 1941.


THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) N. S. Reid relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain, and is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 1st June, 1941.


N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Henry James von Dadelszen to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp), and is posted to Headquarters, 9th Heavy Regiment. Dated 1st June, 1941.

Alan Tutton Johns to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to Headquarters, 10th Heavy Regiment. Dated 1st June, 1941.


CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

2nd Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant) L. H. S. Hirst, A.M.I.C.E., 2nd Field Company, relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieutenant, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 22nd May, 1941.

Edward Corbett Tapley to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 3rd Field Company. Dated 10th May, 1941.


THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Richard Herbert Marryatt, D.S.O. (late Lieutenant-Colonel, Imperial Army), to be Lieutenant-Colonel (temp.), and is appointed to command the 3rd Battalion. Dated 6th October, 1940.

Lieutenant (temp.) I. G. O’Neill, 3rd Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 23rd May, 1941.


THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 125, dated 12th December, 1940, relative to Lieutenant G. T. Jardine, 1st Battalion, is hereby cancelled, and the following substituted:—

“Lieutenant G. T. Jardine, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 14th November, 1940.”

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) A. T. Begg, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.


NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE.

Lieutenant O. G. Birrell, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 7th Company (Wairoa). Dated 26th September, 1940.

Lieutenant E. C. Clifton, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 7th Company (Wairoa). Dated 26th September, 1940.

Lieutenant A. V. Baker, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 8th May, 1941.


N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Lieutenant E. I. A. Macdonald, M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S. (Eng.), 12th Field Ambulance, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 21st March, 1941.
