Notice to Mariners No. 11 of 1941.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—TAURANGA.
Rifle Range established.—Danger Area.

Position : Lat., 37° 40'8 S.; long., 176° 15'4 E. (approx.).
Details : A rifle range has been established near the shore in the above position, which lies approximately 5·1 miles to the eastward of North Rock Light, Tauranga entrance. As danger from stray bullets exists seaward for 1·25 miles no vessel should approach the shore in the vicinity of the range within this distance when a red flag is displayed on the range.

Mariners entering or leaving the port will require to proceed with caution when passing the dredger, which will at times be using her suction gear.

Dredging in Progress.

Position : Otago Harbour Entrance. Lat., 45° 47' S.; long., 170° 43' E. (approx.).
Details : Dredging operations, which will occupy about three months, are in progress between Harrington Point Bend and Taiaroa Head from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outside of these hours the dredger will be moored between red beacons Nos. 4 and 5.
During the hours of darkness two red lights will be exhibited from the starboard side of the dredger, and by day a black ball will be exhibited on the side on which vessels should pass.
