Appointment of Food Controller.
IN exercise of all the powers and authorities conferred by the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Foodstuffs Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Daniel Giles Sullivan, Minister of Supply for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint James Ewing Thomas to be Food Controller in place of Francis Raymond Picot, for the purpose of the Foodstuffs Emergency Regulations 1939.

STAFF.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp.) V. G. Jervis, N.Z. Staff Corps, Deputy Adjutant-General, will act as Adjutant-General and Second Military Member of the Army Board, in addition to his present duties, during the absence from the Dominion of Colonel (temp.) A. E. Conway, O.B.E., N.Z. Staff Corps. Dated 12th April, 1941.
Captain C. A. N. Pilcher, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant, 1st Field Regiment, N.Z. Artillery, and is appointed Quartermaster, Artillery Training Regiment, Mobilization Camp, Papakura. Dated 18th March, 1941.
Captain and Quartermaster (temp.) F. A. Wetherall, M.B.E., Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Quartermaster-General, Northern Military District, Auckland, and is appointed Artillery Instructor (Anti-aircraft), Mobilization Camp, Ngaruawahia. Dated 24th March, 1941.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) C. J. W. Parsons, A.M.I.C.E., A.M.(N.Z.)I.E., Corps of N.Z. Engineers, to be Major (temp.), and is appointed Assistant Staff Officer, Fortifications and Works, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 21st March, 1941.
Captain (temp.) F. C. Gleeson, M.M., relinquishes the appointment of Mechanical Transport Technical Officer, Northern Military District, Auckland, is appointed Staff Officer, Mechanical Transport, Army Headquarters, Wellington, and is granted the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 16th April, 1941.
William Henry Stuart Gee (late Captain, Indian Army), to be Captain, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 2 Area, Paeroa. Dated 28th February, 1941.
Captain A. J. Coutts, Retired List, to be Captain (temp.), and is appointed Deputy Assistant Quartermaster-General, Northern Military District, Auckland. Dated 24th March, 1941.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, dated 24th April, 1940, relative to Captain A. H. Jones, is hereby cancelled. Dated 2nd April, 1941.
Lieutenant W. Cobb, M.C., second in command, Guards, Vital Points, Wellington, is granted the temporary rank of Captain while so employed. Dated 7th April, 1941.
Keith Melville Hickson to be Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp.), Guards, Vital Points, Wellington. Dated 7th April, 1941.
John Haig Neville, B.D.S., to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 15th April, 1941.
Lieutenant C. Johnson, N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and is attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Rongotai. Dated 9th April, 1941.
Lieutenant H. V. B. Speight resigns his commission. Dated 2nd April, 1941.
Alfred Gandy to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is appointed Assistant to the Mechanical Transport Technical Officer, Waiouru Military Camp. Dated 28th March, 1941.
COMMANDS.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. G. Nolan, The Hawke’s Bay Regiment, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion. Dated 6th November, 1940.
2nd Lieutenant (temp. Captain) F. H. Stewart, B.Sc., A.M.(N.Z.)I.E., A.M.I.C.E.(Lond.), Corps of N.Z. Engineers, is appointed to command the 2nd Field Company. Dated 1st May, 1940.
