Notice calling up Reservists for Service Overseas.
National Service Department,
Wellington, 17th April, 1941.
IT is hereby notified for general information that in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have this day issued to—
Thomas John Scorrige, Freezing-works Employee, 18 Oriental Terrace, Wellington, Registration No. 437328, and
Ivan Sorich, Farm Hand, Manawaru, Registration No. 436869,
notices calling them up for service overseas with the Armed Forces as being reservists of Class A of the First Division of the General Reserve, such persons having been severally convicted for that, being reservists belonging to a class of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, they did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation 43 (1) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE.
Land in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 16th April, 1941.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to 11 o’clock a.m. on Tuesday, 10th June, 1941.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Thursday, 12th June, 1941, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of weighting for improvements.
NOTE.—This section is offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Inangahua County.—Reefton Survey District.—Westland Mining District.
SECTION 70, Square 131, Block X: Area, 37 acres 2 roods 14 perches. Capital value, £50. Half-yearly rent, £1.
Weighted with £100 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising dwelling and shed (both in dilapidated condition), fencing, felling, grassing, and stumping.
Situated on Burke’s Creek Road, four miles and a half north-east of Reefton Post-office and School. Reefton Railway-station and Dairy-factory are three miles and a half distant, and the Inangahua Saleyards are twenty miles away. Access is by level metalled road. Light stony terrace land of poor to fair quality, 35 acres having been felled and grassed and 5 acres stumped. Fern and blackberry are in evidence.
