ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 5th day of March, 1941.

Present:
THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section five of the Native Purposes Act, 1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Native freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Native reservation for the common use of the Ngatiporua Hapu as a marae and meeting-place.

The New Brighton Statutory Closing-day Emergency Regulations 1941.

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the Emergency Regulations Act, 1939, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations.

REGULATIONS.

  1. THESE regulations may be cited as the New Brighton Statutory Closing-day Emergency Regulations 1941.
  2. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the statutory closing-day, for the purposes of that Act and of any award or industrial agreement under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, in that portion of the combined district of Christchurch that immediately before the 1st day of April, 1941, comprised the Borough of New Brighton shall, while these regulations continue in force, continue to be Wednesday.

Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers on Active Service with the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Overseas.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 18:—

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

Lieutenant-Colonel T. J. King, O.B.E., relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Director of Ordnance Services, Headquarters, 2nd N.Z. Division, and is appointed Deputy Director of Ordnance Services, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 1st January, 1941.

Major H. G. Carruth is appointed to command the 2nd Divisional Cavalry Regiment temporarily, and is granted the acting rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 22nd February, 1941.

Major D. T. Maxwell relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, 2nd Grade, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Base, is appointed Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Headquarters, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Base, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while so employed, and remains seconded. Dated 24th February, 1941.
