Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers on Active Service with the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Overseas.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 17:—
COMMANDS AND STAFF.
Lieutenant-Colonel T. D. M. Stout, D.S.O., O.B.E., F.R.C.S. (Eng.), I.R.C.P. (Lond.), M.B., M.S., N.Z. Medical Corps, to be Consultant Surgeon in addition to his present appointment as Officer in Charge of a Division, No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Boyd, M.C., M.D., M.R.C.P., F.R.A.C.P., N.Z. Medical Corps, to be Consultant Physician in addition to his present appointment as Officer in Charge of a Division, No. 1 N.Z. General Hospital.
Captain G. K. Fussell relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 3rd February, 1941.
2nd Lieutenant A. C. Highet, 19th (Wellington) Battalion, is appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant while so employed. Dated 3rd February, 1941.
PROMOTIONS.
19th (Wellington) Battalion.
Lieutenant J. M. Elliott to be Captain, vice Captain A. E. B. Burge seconded. Dated 29th January, 1941.
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 19, dated 6th March, 1941, relative to the promotion of Lieutenant B. L. Hutchen, for “vice Captain A. E. B. Burge seconded,” substitute “vice Captain J. M. Elliott seconded.”
N.Z. Medical Corps.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) D. Pottinger, M.C., M.B., Ch.B., M.R.C.P. (Lond.), No. 2 N.Z. General Hospital, N.Z. Medical Corps, to be Lieutenant-Colonel to complete establishment. Dated 23rd January, 1941.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) P. A. Ardagh, D.S.O., M.C., M.B.; Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, to be Lieutenant-Colonel to complete establishment. Dated 23rd January, 1941.
N.Z. Ordnance Corps.
Lieutenant C. K. Fleming to be Captain to complete establishment. Dated 27th January, 1941.
GRANTS OF TEMPORARY RANK.
18th, 21st, and 24th (Auckland) Battalions.
Lieutenant B. M. Laird is granted the temporary rank of Captain while holding the appointment of Adjutant, Composite Training Depot. Dated 20th January, 1941.
2nd Lieutenant A. M. B. Lenton is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant while holding the appointment of Quartermaster, Composite Training Depot. Dated 19th January, 1941.
27th (Machine Gun) Battalion.
Lieutenant R. J. Mason is granted the temporary rank of Captain while holding the appointment of Adjutant, Reception Depot. Dated 15th October, 1940.
TRANSFERS.
Infantry.
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 19, dated 6th March, 1941, for “Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) S. F. Hartnell” substitute “Major S. F. Hartnell.”
Lieutenant J. S. Tomlinson, 18th (Auckland) Battalion, is transferred to the N.Z. Army Service Corps, with seniority next below Lieutenant R. C. Aitken. Dated 3rd February, 1941.
GRANT OF TEMPORARY RANK.
29th Infantry (Mixed) Battalion.
Lieutenant G. T. Upton is granted the temporary rank of Captain, and remains seconded to the Fiji Defence Force. Dated 11th February, 1941.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirement of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—
STAFF.
Captain (temp. Major) R. J. Eyre, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Commandant, Southern Military School of Instruction, Burnham, is appointed Brigade Major, 3rd N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and retains the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 16th December, 1940.
Major H. G. Livingstone, V.D., N.Z. Temporary Staff, is appointed Brigade Major, 3rd N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade. Dated 16th December, 1940.
Lieutenant (temp. Major) E. H. B. Green, N.Z. Corps of Signals, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Signals, and is appointed Deputy Director of Signals, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 1st March, 1941.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Major J. P. E. Veale, V.D., relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding No. 3 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Burnham, and is appointed Officer Commanding, 10th Heavy Regiment, temporarily. Dated 22nd February, 1941.
Captain J. F. B. Stevenson, M.C., Retired List, to be Major, and is appointed Brigade Major, 2nd N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade. Dated 1st November, 1940.
