During the period from the 18th December in each year to the 8th January in the following year (inclusive), and during the period from the Thursday immediately preceding Easter to the Wednesday immediately following Easter (inclusive), there shall, in respect of the establishments affected by this Order, be no fixed hours of opening and closing.

Nothing in this Order shall affect the supplying to any person on the written authority of an officer of Police of oil fuel that may be urgently required at any time while all of the above-mentioned establishments are closed in pursuance of this Order.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (New Plymouth) Order 1941.
PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations (No. 2) 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, David Gervan McMillan, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows :—

This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (New Plymouth) Order 1941.

This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate within the Borough of New Plymouth.

This Order shall come into force on the 20th day of January, 1941.

On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments, except as hereinafter provided, shall be closed for the sale of oil fuel for the whole of every Sunday and shall be opened for the sale of oil fuel on every Friday from 8 a.m. till 9.30 p.m., on every Saturday from 8 a.m. till 12.30 p.m., and on every other day of the week from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days.

In every successive week commencing upon the coming into force of this Order two of the establishments hereinafter named shall, in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out, be opened for the sale of oil fuel on every Sunday from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., on every Saturday shall remain open till 6 p.m. in lieu of 12.30 p.m., and on every other day of the week except Friday shall remain open till 8 p.m. in lieu of 6 p.m.

Rowe and Healy, Limited, Devon Street, New Plymouth.
Fifth week .. Newton King, Limited, New Plymouth.
L. Smith, Kiwi Service Station, Courtney Street, New Plymouth.

Tenth week .. Walker, Derby, and Co., Devon Street, New Plymouth.
Rigby Allen, East End Garage, Devon Street, East New Plymouth.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.
Manufacture of Radio Receiving-sets.
APPLICATIONS have been received from the following :—

F. J. W. Fear and Co., Wellington for a license to commence to carry on the above industry to the extent of manufacturing approximately fifty custom-built receivers per annum.

Mercury Auto Supplies, Auckland, for a license to commence to carry on the above industry to the extent of assembling radios suitable for mounting in motor-vehicles.

Simpson Radios, Petone, for a license to commence to carry on the above industry to the extent of assembling approximately twenty-five custom-built radios per annum.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 30th January, 1941.

Taking of Fish for Sale.
AN application has been received from L. Bruce, Waihi, for a license to take fish for sale around Whangamata, using long-lines, hand-lines, and crayfish pots.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 30th January, 1941.

Fisheries Industries.
APPLICATIONS have been received from R. T. Parsons and G. Orbell, Invercargill, for industrial fishing licenses in respect of the members of the crew of one or more fishing-vessels (to be constructed) and for a fish wholesaler’s license. The proposals embody the catching, smoking, (where practicable), and selling of blue cod and other fish, including certain “waste” fish said at present not to be marketed to any extent. The fishing is to be conducted at Stewart Island and in Foveaux Strait, and the vessel “Hinemoa,” which is to be stationed at Half-moon Bay, is to be used as a depot or factory ship.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 30th January, 1941.

Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by section 3 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921-22, I, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, have appointed Thomas Adam Hannah, of the Public Trust Office, Napier, to be deputy of the District Public Trustee, Napier, during the absence of such District Public Trustee from his headquarters from any cause, and all previous Warrants appointing any deputy of the said District Public Trustee have been revoked.
