Appointments and Promotions of Officers on Active Service with the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Overseas.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments and promotions of officers on Active Service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 13:—
APPOINTMENTS.
Commands and Staff.
Major S. C. V. W. Sugden, 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion, is appointed to command the Base Reception Depot, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force temporarily, and is seconded. Dated 14th November, 1940.
Lieutenant T. L. Danks, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, is appointed to command the Discharge Depot, and is seconded. Dated 18th December, 1940.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) F. L. Hunt, 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion, is appointed to command No. 1 Training Battalion, and remains seconded. Dated 13th December, 1940.
Major P. W. G. Speirs, M.B.E., M.C., V.D., 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, is appointed to command a Prisoner of War Camp, and is seconded. Dated 16th December, 1940.
Captain E. C. Morton, 19th (Wellington) Battalion, is appointed Commandant, Base Headquarters, and is seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
Major A. A. Tennent, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Director of Medical Services, 2nd N.Z. Division, and is appointed to command No. 1 N.Z. Convalescent Depot, vice Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) N. F. Boag, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, placed on N.Z. roll. Dated 17th December, 1940.
Captain N. B. Cowper, 18th (Auckland) Battalion, is appointed Staff Captain, 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, vice Captain A. R. Cockerell, D.S.O., and remains seconded. Dated 25th November, 1940.
Captain A. R. Cockerell, D.S.O., relinquishes the appointment of Staff Captain, 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and is appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General (temp.), 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Base. Dated 25th November, 1940.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. H. Parata, 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion, is appointed Transport Officer, 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, retains the temporary rank of Captain, and is seconded. Dated 9th December, 1940.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) T. J. Cronin, 18th (Auckland) Battalion, is appointed Adjutant, No. 1 Training Battalion, retains the temporary rank of Captain, and remains seconded. Dated 13th December, 1940.
Captain W. H. Alexander, 18th (Auckland) Battalion, is appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, 2nd Echelon, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and is seconded. Dated 13th March, 1940.
Captain J. K. Elliott, M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S. (Eng.), N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed Deputy Assistant Director of Medical Services, 2nd N.Z. Division, vice Major A. A. Tennent, M.B., Ch.B. Dated 17th December, 1940.
PROMOTIONS.

Lieutenant J. H. Garland to be Captain to complete establishment, vice Major H. G. Carruth seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
2nd Lieutenant P. S. Crisp to be Lieutenant. Dated 11th December, 1940.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) W. R. K. Morrison, 24th (Auckland) Battalion, to be Captain to complete establishment, vice Major J. M. Allen seconded, and remains seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
Lieutenant R. W. Adams, 24th (Auckland) Battalion, to be Captain, vice Captain L. I. Day seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) W. J. Lyon, 18th (Auckland) Battalion, to be Captain, vice Captain W. R. K. Morrison seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
Captain F. L. H. Davis, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, to be Major, vice Major F. E. Dornwell seconded, and remains seconded. Dated 9th November, 1940.
Captain A. R. Cockerell, D.S.O., 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, to be Major, vice Major F. L. H. Davis seconded, and remains seconded. Dated 9th November, 1940.
Lieutenant W. C. T. Foley, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, to be Captain to complete establishment, vice Captain A. R. Cockerell, D.S.O., seconded. Dated 9th November, 1940.
Lieutenant H. S. D. Yates, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, to be Captain, vice Captain B. J. Mathewson seconded, and is seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) D. B. Cameron, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, to be Captain, vice Captain H. S. D. Yates seconded. Dated 10th December, 1940.
N.Z. Medical Corps.
Major A. A. Tennent, M.B., Ch.B., to be Lieutenant-Colonel to complete establishment. Dated 17th December, 1940.
GRANTS OF TEMPORARY RANK.
N.Z. Artillery.
The undermentioned Captains are granted the temporary rank of Major to complete establishment:—

N.Z. Engineers.
The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants are granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant:—

The undermentioned Sisters are granted the temporary rank of Charge Sister. Dated 1st May, 1940:—
