Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Patea Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

PATEA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESULT OF POLL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at the poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Patea, taken on the 22nd day of January, 1941, on the proposal of the Patea Borough Council to borrow the sum of £6,000 for alterations and improvements to the Town Hall :—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 39
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 166

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Fendalton Extension No. 35, affecting part Rural Section 7, Block XI, Christchurch Survey District, Canterbury Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the proposed road shown thereon as Highgate Avenue should be of the width of 66 ft. :

Now, therefore, I, Frank Langstone, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1) of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of Highgate Avenue of a width of not less than 50 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Given under my hand, this 10th day of February, 1941.
