Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring
Public Highways to be Main Highways.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 5th day of
February, 1941.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE
GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section three of the Main Highways
Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him
in this behalf, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, doth hereby declare that on and after the date
of publication of this Order in Council in the Gazette, the
portions of main highways described in the First Schedule
hereto shall cease to be main highways, and doth further
declare that the roads described in the Second Schedule hereto
shall be main highways within the meaning and for the
purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1.

Whangarei–Maungaturoto via Waipu.—All that portion
of the Whangarei–Maungaturoto via Waipu Main Highway
in the Whangarei County, commencing at a point near the
northern corner of Lot 2, D.P. 27754, part Ohirua Block,
Block XVI, Purua Survey District, and proceeding thence
generally in a south-westerly and southerly direction, and
terminating at its junction with the Portland Road in Allot-
ment 18, Maungatapere Parish, Block IV, Tangihua Survey
District, being a distance of 74 chains, more or less ; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 109652,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 4.

Gisborne–Napier via Hangaroa.—All that main highway in
the Cook County, declared as the Gisborne–Napier via Hanga-
roa Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd
October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October,
1940.

Gisborne–Wairoa (via Morere).—All that main highway
in the Cook County, declared as the Gisborne–Wairoa (via
Morere) Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated
9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June,
1924.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 7.

Lepperton Junction – Inglewood.—All that main highway
in the Counties of Taranaki and Inglewood and the Inglewood
Borough, declared as the Lepperton Junction – Inglewood
Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd
October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October,
1940.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 10.

Tupurupuru – Te Wharau.—All that main highway in the
Wairarapa South County, declared as the Tupurupuru – Te
Wharau Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated
2nd October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th
October, 1940.

Carterton–Gladstone.—All that main highway in the Wai-
rarapa South County, declared as the Carterton–Gladstone
Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd
October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October,
1940.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1.

Whangarei–Maungaturoto via Waipu.—All that road or
portion of road in the Whangarei County, commencing at a
point near the northern corner of Lot 2, D.P. 27754, part
Ohirua Block, Block XVI, Purua Survey District, and pro-
ceeding thence generally in a southerly direction and ter-
minating at the junction with the Portland Road in Allot-
ment 18, Maungatapere Parish, Block IV, Tangihua Survey
District, being a distance of 61 chains, more or less ; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 109652,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 4.

Gisborne–Napier via Hangaroa.—All that road or portion
of road in the Cook County, commencing at the western
boundary of Gisborne Borough, and proceeding thence
generally in a south-westerly direction, passing through
Makaraka and Tiniroto, and terminating at the south-western
boundary of Cook County, Block II, Opoiti Survey District,
being a distance of 41 miles 76 chains, more or less ; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 106245,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, thereon coloured green, and marked M–N.

Gisborne–Wairoa via Morere.—All that road or portion
of road in the Cook County, commencing at the junction
with the Gisborne–Napier via Hangaroa Main Highway
opposite part D, Whenuakura Block, Block I, Turanganui
Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly
direction and terminating at the boundary of the Cook
County opposite Section 2, Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey
District, being a distance of 25 miles 32 chains, more or
less ; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 109850, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 7.

Lepperton Junction – Inglewood.—All that road or portion
of road in the Counties of Taranaki and Inglewood, com-
mencing at its junction with the Te Kuiti – New Plymouth
Main Highway near Waitara, and proceeding thence generally
in a south-easterly direction via Lepperton Junction and
terminating at the northern boundary of the Inglewood
Borough, being a distance of 9 miles 35 chains, more or
less ; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 107460, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Also all that street or portion of street in the Inglewood
Borough, commencing at the northern boundary of the said
Borough at the northernmost end of Rimu Street and pro-
ceeding thence generally in a southerly direction via the
said Rimu Street and terminating at the junction of Rimu
Street and Rata Street, being a distance of 24 chains, more
or less ; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 107308, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 10.

Tupurupuru – Te Wharau.—All that road or portion of
road in the Wairarapa South County, commencing at its
junction with the Martinborough–Masterton via Gladstone
Main Highway near Gladstone, and proceeding thence gene-
rally in a south-easterly direction and terminating at Te
Wharau in Section 249, Block VII, Wainuioru Survey
District, being a distance of 15 miles 30 chains, more or less ;
as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D.
106803, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Carterton–Gladstone.—All that road or portion of road in
the Wairarapa South County, commencing near Carterton at
its junction with the Carterton–Longbush Main Highway,
and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and
easterly direction and terminating near Gladstone at its
junction with the Martinborough–Masterton via Gladstone
Main Highway, being a distance of 6 miles 70 chains, more
or less ; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 106803, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Officer authorized to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the
three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the
Peace Act, 1927, I, Sir Michael Myers, the Administrator of
the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
notify and declare that Captain Eustace Rotherham, R.N.,
being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office
of Commanding Officer of H.M.S. “ Philomel,” is authorized
to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-
hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act,
1927.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator
of the Government, this 11th day of February, 1941.
