The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants are required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and, in the case of Section 136, the amount of the weighting for improvements.
NOTE.—These sections are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessees whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LANDS.
Vincent County.—Fraser Survey District.—Otago Mining District.
Section 136, Block I: Area, 2 roods 14 perches. Capital value, £25; half-yearly rent, 10s.
Weighted with 12s. 6d. (to be paid in cash) for improvements comprising fencing.
Section 139, Block I: Area, 40 acres 0 roods 22 perches. Capital value, £25; half-yearly rent, 10s.
The sections are situated about half a mile from the Alexandra Post-office.
Section 136 comprises a good building-site lying into the sun with an attractive outlook.
Section 139 consists of about 1 acre of level ground with good heavy soil suitable for orchard or market gardening, the balance is more or less broken country with rock outcrops. This section is offered subject to the following special conditions:—
(1) The right is reserved to the Alexandra Borough Council to use the old mining sludge-channel through the northern portion of Section 139 for by-wash purposes as and when required, without liability for compensation for any damage which may be caused thereby.
(2) The right is reserved to the Public Works Department to remove from Section 139 buildings and material belonging to that Department.

Land in the Nelson Land District acquired for a State Forest.
State Forest Service, Wellington, 29th January, 1941.
NOTICE is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the Forests Act, 1921-22, as a State forest.
