New Zealand Expeditionary Force Canteen and Regimental Funds Trust Board (Great War, 1914–1918).

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 21 (1) of the Finance Act, 1920, re-enacted as section 140 (1) of the Public Revenues Act, 1926, and with reference to the notice which appeared in the New Zealand Gazette dated 18th March, 1921, constituting the Board appointed to receive, administer, and distribute the unexpended balances of New Zealand Expeditionary Force canteen, regimental, and mess funds of the Great War, 1914–18, it is hereby notified that Arthur Telford Donnelly, Esquire, C.M.G., is appointed to the said Board in place of Colonel A. E. Stewart, C.M.G., D.S.O., now deceased.

Poukawa Drainage Area.—Making and Levying General Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all lands within the Poukawa Drainage Area, constituted under the said Act, the general rates described in the Schedule hereto, such rates being for the purpose of covering for the period from the 1st day of April, 1940, to the 31st day of March, 1941, the cost of administration of the said Act, including the maintenance of works constructed under that Act, in the said area, and I direct that the said rates (together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied) shall be payable in one sum on the 30th day of August, 1940, to the Collector of Rates, Lands and Survey Department, Post-office Buildings, Napier. The rate-book is kept at the office of the Collector of Rates aforesaid, where it is available for inspection at all times at which that office is open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE.

Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the person appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, ninepence and ninety-four one-hundredths of a penny (9·94d.) in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, one penny and sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny (1·66d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny (0·33d.) in the pound.

Bay of Islands Consolidation Scheme (Waiomio Subseries Ac of Motatau Series A) confirmed.

In the matter of subsection 6 of section 161 of the Native Land Act, 1931, and in the matter of an application to the Native Land Court to prepare a scheme of consolidation in respect of Mohinui Block and other blocks.
NOTICE is hereby given that a scheme of consolidation dealing with Mohinui Block and other blocks within the Tokerau Native Land Court District, being the Waiomio Subseries Ac and being part of the Motatau Series A of the Bay of Islands Consolidation Scheme, having been prepared by the Native Land Court in accordance with the above-mentioned Act and submitted under the seal of the said Court to the Native Minister for his approval, I, Frank Langstone, Native Minister, being satisfied that the partial scheme so submitted is just and equitable and is in the public interest, do hereby confirm the said partial scheme of consolidation so submitted.

Native Interpreter's License revoked.

Notice to Mariners No. 30 of 1940.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—OTAGO ENTRANCE.
Amendment to Sailing Directions.
Position: Lat., 45° 46′ S.; long., 170° 43′ E. (approx.).
Details: The leading lights in line (165½°) now define the eastern edge of the main entrance channel. Vessels making port waiting for a pilot should not proceed westward of a line with Taiaroa Head Lighthouse bearing 200°, and must not approach within 1½ miles of the lighthouse on any bearing.

Notice by the Public Trustee under Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and its Amendments.

WHEREAS EDWIN LONGDEN, formerly of Akaroa, Private-hotel Proprietor, is the owner of certain real and personal property: And whereas it is not known where the said Edwin Longden is, or whether he is alive or dead: And whereas by an order made by a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Christchurch on the 19th day of July, 1940, the Public Trustee was authorized to exercise in respect of the property of the said Edwin Longden the powers (a) to (h) inclusive, and (j) to (n) inclusive, contained in section 87 of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908.
Now the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that it is his intention forthwith to exercise in respect of the said property the powers and authorities mentioned in the said order.

Fish Retailing.
NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been received from A. A. Kinley, Matata, for a license to carry on fish retailing by hawking in Matata and district.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 12th September, 1940. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and (where applicable) include a statement showing the average monthly turnover of the business of the person making the representations, and the extent to which it is considered the granting of this application would affect such turnover.
