shall not apply to that Council.

THE following special order made by the Mount Herbert
County Council is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931.

RESOLUTION.
THAT in exercise of the powers vested in it by section 2 of
the Counties Amendment Act, 1931, the Mount Herbert
County Council hereby resolved by way of special order
as follows:—
"That sections 121 and 131 of the Counties Act, 1920,
shall not apply to this Council and such special order shall
take effect on and after the 1st day of April, 1941."
I, Garnet Thomas Bullock, Clerk to the Mount Herbert
County Council, hereby certify that the special order regarding
the abolition of Riding Accounts in the Mount Herbert
County was duly made in accordance with section 2 of the
Counties Amendment Act, 1931, and section 99 of the Counties
Act, 1920.

Waihi Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General
Rates.
I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the
exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby
make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the
Pukehina Subdivision of the Waihi Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the general rates described in
the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of
all land included in the Central Subdivision the general
rate described in the Second Schedule hereto, and on the
unimproved value of all land in the Kaikokopu Subdivision
the general rates described in the Third Schedule hereto,
such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting
maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1940, to 31st
March, 1941.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on
the 30th day of August, 1940, together with the amount of
the special rates already made and levied, to the Collector
of Rates, Room 45, lst Floor, Government Buildings, Customs
Street West, Auckland. The rate-book will be open for
inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, and a copy
of the same will be available for inspection at the office of
Mr. H. W. Earp, Clerk, Kaituna River Board, Te Puke, at
all times those offices are open for the transaction of public
business.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
PUKEHINA SUBDIVISION.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as
Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under
section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928,
elevenpence and forty-four one-hundredths of a penny
(11.44d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified
as Class C, fivepence and eight one-hundredths of a penny
(5.08d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
CENTRAL SUBDIVISION.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as
Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under
section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928,
tenpence (10d.) in the pound.
THIRD SCHEDULE.
KAIKOKOPU SUBDIVISION.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as
Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under
section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928,
sixpence and ninety-six one-hundredths of a penny (6.96d.)
in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified
as Class B, fivepence and forty-one one-hundredths of a
penny (5.41d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, threepence and nine one-hundredths of a penny
(3.09d.) in the pound.

Rangatira Beach : Danger Area Established.
Position: Muriwai River Outlet. Lat., 36° 48' S.; long.,
174° 25' E. (approx.).
Details: The area between lines extending 240° 5 miles
from positions on the coast-line 3.3 miles and 8.1 miles
northward of the Muriwai River outlet has been established as a bombing and air firing range. Mariners and
other persons concerned are warned not to enter the area as
air firing and bombing may take place at any time.

THE following amendment to the above regulations has
been agreed upon by the New Zealand Naval Board and the
Wellington Harbour Board.

AMENDMENT No. 2.
Paragraph 12: Add new subparagraph (3):—
(3) The following area is prohibited to all vessels including
small craft and fishing vessels. No vessel is permitted to
navigate in an area enclosed by a line drawn 090° from the
foreshore at Seatoun to Steeple Rock, and thence through
Outer Rock (of Barretts Reef) to the southern extremity of
West Ledge. Any vessel so doing is liable to be fired on.
