Authorizing Robert John Ellis, of Woodstock, Labourer, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity and to erect certain Electric Lines.

GALWAY, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 31st day of July, 1940.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

Pursuant to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to Robert John Ellis, of Woodstock, Labourer (hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”), a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to take and use from Duffs Dams situated in T.G.L. No. 2235, Block V, Kanieri Survey District, in the Land District of Westland, for the purposes hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding one cubic foot per second at any one time, and to erect the electric lines hereinafter described.

CONDITIONS.

  1. IMPLIED CONDITIONS.

The conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Water-power Regulations, 1934, and the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this license, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

  1. LICENSE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.

This license is issued under the Water-power Regulations, 1934, the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, and the Electrical Wiring Regulations, 1935, and is subject thereto and to any regulations made or to be made in amplification or amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.

  1. UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS.

Water shall be used under this license solely for the purpose of generating electricity, and shall be taken from the said Duffs Dams at a point in T.G.L. No. 2235, Block V, Kanieri Survey District, in the Westland Land District, as indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 107021, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works.

  1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.

The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 107021 :—

(a) Headworks consisting of a weir and intake giving a static head of approximately 8 ft.

(b) Head-race from such headworks to the power-house hereinafter described.

(c) Power-house with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, all situated in T.G.L. No. 2235, Block V, Kanieri Survey District.

(d) Tail-race leading from power-house to the Hokitika River.

(e) Electric lines leading from the power-house aforesaid in an easterly direction through T.G.L. No. 2235, and thence across the Main South Road to the licensee’s premises situated in Residence Area 3287, Block V, Kanieri Survey District: The said lines being shown by means of a red line on the said plan P.W.D. 107021.

  1. DURATION OF LICENSE.

This license shall, unless sooner determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1961, or until electrical energy is available from an Electric-power Board or other public source of supply, whichever is the earlier.

  1. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.

The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d) of clause 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935. The generating voltage and the transmission voltage shall be approximately 110 volts direct current.

  1. RENTAL.

For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this license, the licensee may install a suitable maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the Public Works Department and, failing such installation, the rental shall be determined on the maximum capacity of the generating plant installed. The present plant is rated at 0·25 kilowatts.

Authorizing John Alexander Bell, of Waihaorunga, Waimate, Sheep-farmer, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity and to erect certain Electric Lines.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 31st day of July, 1940.

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

Pursuant to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to John Alexander Bell, of Waihaorunga, Waimate, Sheep-farmer (hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”), a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters of an unnamed stream situated in Education Reserve 2003, Block XIII, Waihao Survey District, in the Land District of Canterbury, and to take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a stream of water not exceeding one-third of a cubic foot per second at any one time, and to erect the electric lines hereinafter described.

CONDITIONS.

The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 106733 :—

(a) Headworks consisting of a weir and intake giving a static head of approximately 96 ft.

(b) Head race and pipe-line from such headworks to the power-house hereinafter described.

(c) Power-house with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, situated in Education Reserve 2003, Block XIII, Waihao Survey District.

(d) Tail-race leading from power-house to an unnamed stream in the said Education Reserve 2003.

(e) Electric lines leading from the power-house aforesaid across a road to the licensee’s farm buildings situated in Education Reserve 2003, Block XIII, Waihao Survey District.

  1. DURATION OF LICENSE.

This license shall, unless sooner determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1961, or until electrical energy is available from an Electric-power Board or other public source of supply, whichever is the earlier.
