NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—WEST COAST.

Rangatira Beach : Danger Area Established.

Position : Muriwai River Outlet. Lat., 36° 48′ S. ; long., 174° 25′ E. (approx.).

Details : The area between lines extending 240° 0·5 miles from positions on the coast-line 3·3 miles and 8·1 miles respectively from the Muriwai River outlet has been established as a bombing and air firing range. Mariners and other persons concerned are warned not to enter the area as air firing and bombing may take place at any time.

Notice to Mariners No. 25 of 1940.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 29th July, 1940.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—HAURAKI GULF.

Dangerous Areas.

(a) Position : Northern approaches to Auckland.

Limits to Area : Needles Point, Great Barrier Island, in a direction 273° to Sail Rock, thence 000° for 18 miles, thence 093° to a position 000° 18 miles from Needles Point, Great Barrier Island.

Details : Mariners are warned that the area enclosed by the lines joining the above positions is dangerous due to mines, and ships, including small craft and fishing-vessels, enter at their peril.

(b) Until further notice, the water to the approaches to Colville Channel from the southern end of Great Barrier Island in the vicinity of and to seaward of Cuvier Island and south to the Mercury Islands is dangerous due to mines. Entrance to Auckland through the Colville Channel may be made after obtaining instructions from the Marine Department (Collector of Customs).
