The Sharebrokers Act, 1908.—Amendment to Rules of the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General in Council has been pleased to approve of the following amendment to the rules of the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand.

STOCK EXCHANGE ASSOCIATION OF NEW ZEALAND.
Rule 73 : Alter first paragraph to read :—
Transactions in all shares shall be “ex dividend” on the business day next after the closing of the transfer books for the payment of the dividend or on such other date as the Executive may in special circumstances determine. Transactions in all stock, bonds, and debentures carrying a fixed rate of interest shall be “ex interest” on the date on which such interest is payable. When transfer books are closed covering inclusive days the books shall be deemed to be closed at 5 p.m. on the day before the first inclusive date. When the transfer books do not close, shares shall be “ex dividend” on the day the dividend is payable at the company’s head office.
I certify that the amendment to Rule 73 as passed at the annual meeting of the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand held in Wellington on the 21st February, 1940, is set out correctly above.

Notice under the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby direct and require as follows:—
(1) No sawmiller, timber-merchant, or agent shall accept any order from outside New Zealand for the supply of any of the timbers or timber materials mentioned in the Schedule hereto unless such sawmiller, timber-merchant, or agent obtains the precedent consent of the Timber Controller;
(2) Any sawmiller, timber-merchant, or agent who has accepted orders for the supply beyond New Zealand of any of the timbers or timber materials mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall, not later than the 15th August, 1940, supply full particulars of such orders to the Timber Controller, Box 1, Government Buildings, Wellington.

THE timbers and timber materials referred to in this notice are:—
Kauri:
Insignis pine (including cases, or other products, manufactured therefrom).

Notice of Intention to take Land for Scenic Purposes in Block I, Maketu Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for scenic purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Puke and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 465 acres 3 roods 15 perches.
Being portion of Otawa No. 2 Block.
Situated in Block I, Maketu Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 30418s.)
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 107844, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land for a Native School in Block XVI, Kawakawa Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for a Native school: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kawakawa and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Appointment of Licensing Authorities in terms of the Transport Licensing Amendment Act, 1936.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Transport Licensing Amendment Act, 1936, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby appoint the licensing authorities described in the Schedule hereto for a term commencing on the 1st day of August, 1940, and expiring on the 31st day of July, 1943.
