Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee.

NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by section 3 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, I, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, have appointed Daniel Scannell of the Public Trust Office, Auckland, to be deputy of the District Public Trustee, Auckland, during the absence of such District Public Trustee from his headquarters from any cause, and all previous warrants appointing any deputy of the said District Public Trustee have been revoked.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Rotorua) Order 1940.

PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows :—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Rotorua) Order 1940.

  2. This Order shall come into force on the 22nd day of July, 1940.

  3. This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate within six miles of the Post-office in the Borough of Rotorua.

  4. On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments except as hereinafter provided shall be closed for the sale of oil fuel for the whole of every Sunday and shall on every Friday be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on every Friday and on every other day of the week be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days.

  5. This Order shall not apply to Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Labour Day, the birthday of the reigning Sovereign, the Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Labour Day and, if the birthday of the reigning Sovereign be celebrated on a Monday, the Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding that Monday.

  6. In every successive week commencing upon the coming into force of this Order two of the establishments hereinafter named shall in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out be opened on Sunday from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. and on every other day of the week from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days.

First week .. Rotorua Rental Cars (Proprietor: A. J. Andrews). Cadman’s Parking Station, Limited.

Second week .. Jones Brothers Garage, Limited. Rotorua Tyre and Rubber Company (Proprietor: J. L. Witherow).

Third week .. Thermal Garage (Proprietor: R. C. Avery). Wells Arawa Service Station (Proprietor: J. S. Wells).

Fourth week .. Rotorua Motor Transport Co., Ltd. De Luxe Service Station (Proprietor: J. Geaney).

Fifth week .. Hall Nicholls, Limited. Duffy Service Station (Proprietor: H. F. Preston).

Sixth week .. J. C. Bates and Son, Limited. Geyser Service Station (Proprietor: J. B. Rassmussen).

  1. In alternate weeks as hereinafter set out commencing upon the coming into force of this Order the establishments hereinafter named shall on Sunday be opened from 8.30 a.m. till 9.30 p.m. and from 5.30 p.m. till 6.30 p.m. and be closed at all other times on Sunday.

  1. Nothing in this Order shall affect the opening of the establishment of Mr. J. G. Blackmore at the Rotorua Aerodrome for the supply of oil fuel to aircraft.

  2. Nothing in this Order shall affect the supply of fuel oil to any person at any time on the authority of an officer of Police.

Election of Member of Hawke’s Bay Land Board.

I, FRANK RUPERT BURNLEY, Returning Officer for the election of a member of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board, do hereby notify, in accordance with the provisions of section 47 of the Land Act, 1924, and the regulations made thereunder, that the only person nominated to fill the vacancy occurring on the said Board was Cornelius John O’Reilly, Esquire, of Porangahau. I do therefore hereby declare that the said Cornelius John O’Reilly is duly elected a member of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board for a term of two years as from the 28th day of August, 1938.

Election of Producers’ Representatives on the Hop Marketing Committee.

PURSUANT to the Hop Marketing Regulations 1939, made under the Marketing Act, 1936, and the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Act, 1934, notice is hereby given that a copy of the Roll of Producers qualified to vote at the election to be held on the second Wednesday in the month of August, 1940, of producers’ representatives on the Hop Marketing Committee established by the said regulations, has been deposited for public inspection during ordinary office hours, for a period of seven days from the 17th day of July 1940, at the post-offices situated at Nelson, Motueka, and Upper Moutere.
