Town Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 2nd July, 1940.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 6th August, 1940.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Thursday, 8th August, 1940, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants will be required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, and lease fee.
The sections are situated within the Westland Mining District and are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessees whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.

The township is situated at the junction of the main highways from Christchurch–Murchison–Reefton, and the sections, which are flat and in grass, are suitable for business and residential sites.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Wednesday, 14th August, 1940, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, and lease fee.

SECTION 1 of Lot 9, part Reserve 94, Block XI: Area, 1 rood 28·3 perches. Capital value, £40 ; half-yearly rent, £1.
This property is situated at Woodend, distant about fifteen miles from Christchurch, and has a frontage to the Main North Road and the Rangiora–Woodend Road. Offers a good building-site.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 14th August, 1940, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Clutha County.—Glenomaru Survey District.
SECTION 43, Block III : Area, 19 acres 2 roods 36 perches. Capital value, £20. Deposit on deferred payments, £5. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, 9s. 9d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, 8s.
Weighted with £55 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising old five-roomed dwelling, two huts, and fencing.
The property is situated one mile from Glenomaru Post-office and Railway-station, two miles from Glenomaru School, eight miles from Owaka Saleyards, and a quarter of a mile off Catlins Main Highway. The soil is a sharp loam on rock bottom. The section is undulating and part backlying, with about 10 acres milled bush and second growth ; balance old pasture.
