Decisions of the Bureau of Industry under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to the authority conferred on the Bureau of Industry under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936, the following decisions in respect of applications for licenses have been made.

Swinton and Oates, Ltd., Auckland For an amendment of the company's license so as to permit the company to use the “fairstitch” and “rivetted or screwed” methods in the manufacture of the types of footwear covered by its license Granted .. 10 June, 1940.
Vivian Slippers, Ltd., Wellington For an amendment of the company's license so as to permit the company to use the “machine-sewn” method in the manufacture of the type of footwear covered by its license Granted .. 24 June, 1940.
Manufacture of Soap and Soap-powder.
Palmate Manufacturing Company, Auckland To carry on the industry of “the manufacture for sale of soap and soap-powder” to the extent of manufacturing abrasive soap known as “Palmate” soap Declined .. 24 June, 1940.

Industrial Fishing Licenses.

  1. An application from A. Hayter, Whakatane, for an Industrial Fishing License was declined on the 24th June, 1940.
  2. An application for an Industrial Fishing License from W. P. Sullivan, Auckland, which had previously been declined was reconsidered and the application granted on the 24th June, 1940.

Fish Retailer's Licenses.

Applications from the following for Fish Retailer's Licenses were declined on the 24th June, 1940 :-

T. David, 2 Shakespeare Road, Napier.
Mrs. F. Ford, The Mount, Tauranga.
P. Te Awa, and W. Maaka, 303 Horetaunga Street, Hastings.
T. Yurjevich, 112 Thames Street, Oamaru.
H. L. Tozer, 160 High Street, Carterton.


Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Fish Retailing.

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been received from M. Matkovich for a license to engage in the industry of fish retailing by hawking in the suburbs of Auckland and in the districts between Auckland and Pukokohe.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 11th July, 1940. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and (where applicable) include a statement showing the average monthly turnover of the business of the person making the representations, and the extent to which it is considered the granting of this application would affect such turnover.

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been received from A. E. Fishburn for a license to conduct the business of fish retailing at premises at 100 Hutt Road, Petone.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 3rd July, 1940. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and (where applicable) include a statement showing the average monthly turnover of the business of the person making the representations, and the extent to which it is considered the granting of this application would affect such turnover.

Taking of Fish for Sale.

NOTICE is hereby given that applications have been received from—

(a) A. James for a license to take fish for sale at Ohio Bay, Wellington, by means of a 16 ft. rowboat using hand lines and set-nets.

(b) J. J. Person for a license to take fish for sale at Takaka by means of the 25 ft. fishing-vessel “Zoe” using long and hand lines and set and drag nets.

(c) W. J. S. Eddy, Irwell, for a license to take fish for sale at Lake Ellesmere by means of the fishing-vessel “Scmpor Fidelis” using set-nets.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of those applications and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 11th July, 1940.
