Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers of the
Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force :—
HEADQUARTERS, 2ND N.Z. EXPEDITIONARY FORCE BASE.
Lieutenant-Colonel N. S. Falla, C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D., Reserve of Officers, N.Z. Artillery, ceases to be seconded to the Royal New Zealand Air Force, is transferred to the Active List, and seconded to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, dated 3rd May, 1940, and is appointed Commandant, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Base, with the rank of Brigadier. Dated 1st June, 1940.
Colonel Sir Stephen S. Allen, K.B.E., C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D. (Reserve of Officers), is appointed Assistant Military Secretary, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 6th March, 1940.
HEADQUARTERS, 2ND N.Z. DIVISION.
Lieutenant F. R. Fisher (17th Lancers) is appointed Aide-de-Camp to G.O.C., 2nd N.Z. Division. Dated 14th February, 1940.
6TH FIELD REGIMENT, N.Z.A.
Acting Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. Weir (seconded from Royal N.Z. Artillery), is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while commanding 6th Field Regiment, N.Z.A. Dated 15th May, 1940.
8TH FIELD COMPANY, N.Z.E.
Captain (temporary) E. R. McKillop is granted the temporary rank of Major while commanding 8th Field Company, N.Z.E. Dated 15th May, 1940.
2nd Lieutenant S. T. Dibble, D.C.M., is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 15th May, 1940.
THE 21ST (AUCKLAND) BATTALION.
Lieutenant H. M. McElroy is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 13th March, 1940.
THE 24TH (AUCKLAND) BATTALION.
Acting Lieutenant-Colonel C. Shuttleworth (seconded from N.Z. Staff Corps), is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while commanding The 24th (Auckland) Battalion. Dated 15th May, 1940.
THE 26TH (CANTERBURY-OTAGO) BATTALION.
Acting Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Page (seconded from Royal N.Z. Artillery), is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while commanding The 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion. Dated 15th May, 1940.
THE N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Lieutenant-Colonel F. M. Spencer, E.D., M.B., Ch.B., N.Z.M.C., is transferred from No. 1 N.Z. Convalescent Depot to No. 2 N.Z. General Hospital. Dated 13th March, 1940.
The following are seconded to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with the temporary rank of Captain :—
Lieutenant M. Greville, M.B., Ch.B. (N.Z.M.C.). Dated Ist February, 1940.
Lieutenant L. H. Cordery, M.B., Ch.B. (N.Z.M.C.). Dated 17th April, 1940.

Lieutenant-Colonel F. M. Spencer, E.D., M.B., Ch.B., N.Z.M.C., is granted the temporary rank of Colonel and appointed to command No. 2 N.Z. General Hospital temporarily. Dated 15th May, 1940.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the Marriage Act, 1908, and the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, I, Gilbert Graham Hodgkins, Deputy Registrar-General, do hereby appoint Gordon Graham Leydon to be Deputy of the Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Rawene, on and from the 6th May, 1940.

to be Returning Officer for the Electoral and Licensing Districts of Dunedin South for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, and the Licensing Act, 1908, and their amendments, on and from the 21st day of May, 1940.
Constable Thomas Donovan,
to be Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates' Court at Bulls for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act 1926, on and from the 3rd day of May, 1940.
Gerard Douglass Gordon Jensen,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, an Inspector for the purposes of the Scaffolding and Excavation Act, 1922, and an Inspector for the purposes of the Weights and Measures Act, 1925, on and from the 1st day of March, 1938.
Constable Albert Daniel Yeoward,
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates' Court at Maungaturoto for the purposes of the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1928; and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates' Court at Maungaturoto for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 16th day of May, 1940.
