IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-
General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the
Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and
Documents Act, 1919, appointed
Arthur Muir, of Arahura,
to be an Officer for the purposes of Part II of the first-
mentioned Act in respect of the Westland Acclimatization
District.

transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand
Military Forces :-
STAFF.
Lieutenant-Colonel L. G. Goss, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes
the appointment of General Staff Officer, 1st Grade
(Operations and Intelligence), A.H.Q., and is appointed
Personal Assistant to the Chief of the General Staff,
A.H.Q. Dated 20th May, 1940.
Lieutenant-Colonel A. E. Conway, N.Z. Staff Corps,
relinquishes the appointment of Director of Mobilization,
and is appointed Director of Military Training, A.H.Q.
Dated 20th May, 1940.
Major R. H. Quilliam, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Assistant to the Director of Mobiliza-
tion, and is appointed Director of Mobilization, A.H.Q.;
and granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel
while so employed. Dated 20th May, 1940.
Captain M. N. Wallace, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Adjutant, Mobilization Camp,
Ngaraawahia, and is appointed Adjutant, 1st Battalion,
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own),
and Assistant Area Officer, No. 1 Area, Auckland.
Dated 15th May, 1940.
Lieutenant W. R. K. Morrison, N.Z. Staff Corps, relin-
quishes the appointments of Adjutant, 1st Battalion,
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own),
and Assistant Area Officer, No. 1 Area, and is appointed
General Staff Officer, 3rd Grade, Northern Military
District, Auckland. Dated 15th May, 1940.
Lieutenant W. S. McKinnon, B.Sc., Royal N.Z. Artillery,
returned from the United Kingdom on the 9th May,
1940, after undergoing a Gunnery Staff Course, ceases
to be seconded, and is attached to Army Headquarters,
Wellington, for special duty. Dated 9th May, 1940.
