Identification Officer at Wellington, terminated to
date 14th October, 1939, on completion of duty for which
mobilized.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand
Military Forces :—
STAFF.
Lieutenant P. G. Monk, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the
appointment of Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Wellington
Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), on being seconded
for duty with the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated
8th December, 1939.
Lieutenant and Quartermaster W. F. Sellen, N.Z. Permanent
Staff, is appointed Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Wellin-
ton Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), in addition
to his present appointment. Dated 9th December, 1939.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Lieutenant H. A. W. Gray is posted to the Retired List
with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed
uniform. Dated 14th December, 1939.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Lieutenant-Colonel C. S. White, V.D., The North Auckland
Regiment, to be Lieutenant-Colonel, and is appointed
Camp Commandant, Papakura Military Camp. Dated
11th December, 1939.
Captain H. Holderness, M.C., Retired List, to be Captain,
and is appointed Transport Shipping Officer, Christchurch.
Dated 10th December, 1939.
Lieutenant J. A. S. Mackenzie, N.Z. Dental Corps, to be
Lieutenant, and is appointed Acting Senior Dental
Officer, Ngaruawahia Military Camp. Dated 9th
October, 1939.
Lieutenant J. A. S. Mackenzie relinquishes the appointment
of Acting Senior Dental Officer, Ngaruawahia Military
Camp, is appointed Principal Dental Officer, Papakura
Military Camp, dated 28th November, 1939, and is
granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 13th
December, 1939.
Lieutenant G. McCallum, B.D.S. (N.Z.), N.Z. Dental
Corps, to be Lieutenant, is appointed Principal Dental
Officer, Trentham Military Camp, and is granted the
temporary rank of Captain. Dated 13th December,
1939.
Lieutenant S. G. Bowron, Retired List, to be Lieutenant,
and is appointed Embarkation Staff Officer, Christ-
church. Dated 22nd December, 1939.
REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant G. R. Park, M.C., from the Reserve of Officers,
The Canterbury Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with
seniority from 21st July, 1934, and is posted to the
16th Light Battery. Dated 4th January, 1940.
THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
Lieutenant G. E. Hartnell, from The Hawke’s Bay Regiment,
to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 15th September,
1932, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 19th
December, 1939.
Lieutenant J. B. Rowe, from the Reserve of Officers, to
be Lieutenant, with seniority from 2nd December, 1939,
and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 4th January,
1940.
The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (temporary)
and are posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 9th December,

Lieutenant G. E. Hartnell, 1st Battalion, is transferred
to The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s
Own). Dated 19th December, 1939.
THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.
Henry Moodie Hopper, M.M. (late 2nd Lieutenant,
Unattached List (b), General List), to be 2nd Lieutenant,
and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 3rd January,
1940.
N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Lieutenant E. H. H. Taylor, M.B., Ch.B., ceases to be
attached to the 9th Field Battery, N.Z.A., and is posted
to the 3rd Field Ambulance. Dated 8th January, 1940.
