Parts of the Defence Forces called out for Military Service.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939, the Governor-General may by Proclamation call out the Defence Forces or any part thereof for military service: And whereas, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, do hereby call out for military service for purposes of defence in New Zealand, as from the dates stated, the following parts of the Defence Forces, namely,—

(1) As from 7th January, 1941 :—

12th Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, comprising—
The 37th and 38th Batteries, and the 30th Light Aid Detachment, New Zealand Ordnance Corps (attached).

22nd Field Company, Corps of New Zealand Engineers.

4th Signals Company, New Zealand Corps of Signals.

Headquarters, 7th New Zealand Infantry Brigade.

2nd and 3rd Battalions, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

2nd Battalion, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own).

2nd Battalion, The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

2nd Battalion, The Canterbury Regiment.

1st and 2nd Battalions, The New Zealand Scottish Regiment (personnel not already called out by Proclamation dated 1st August, 1940, published in Gazette Extraordinary dated 2nd August, 1940).

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Provost Companies, Corps of New Zealand Military Police.

(2) As from 3rd February, 1941 :—

Headquarters, 1st New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade.

*The Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles.

*The Waikato Mounted Rifles.

*The North Auckland Mounted Rifles.

1st Mobile Veterinary Section, New Zealand Veterinary Corps.

Headquarters, 2nd New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade.

*Queen Alexandra’s (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles.

*The Wellington (East Coast) Mounted Rifles.

2nd Mobile Veterinary Section, New Zealand Veterinary Corps.

Headquarters, 3rd New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade.

3rd Mobile Veterinary Section, New Zealand Veterinary Corps.

Headquarters, 4th New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade.

*The Manawatu Mounted Rifles.

*That part of paragraph 4 of the Proclamation dated 1st August, 1940, calling out these units for military service on 7th January, 1941, is cancelled.

(3) As from 1st April, 1941 :—

5th Composite Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Reserve Mechanical Transport Companies, New Zealand Army Service Corps.

8th Field Ambulance, New Zealand Medical Corps.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Motor Ambulance Convoys, New Zealand Medical Corps.

Northern, Central, and Southern Remount Depots, New Zealand Veterinary Corps.

Northern, Central, and Southern Veterinary Hospitals, New Zealand Veterinary Corps.

4th Provost Company, Corps of New Zealand Military Police.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 20th day of December, 1940.
