Partial Revocation of Order in Council vesting Land owned
by Natives in a Maori Land Board for Non-payment of
Rates.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 4th day of
December, 1940.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section sixty-three of the Native Purposes
Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, doth hereby revoke the Order in Council referred
to in Part I of the Schedule hereto, in so far as it affects the
land mentioned in Part II of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

PART I.

ORDER in Council under section thirty-two of the Native
Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment
Act, 1928, made on the 5th day of December, 1929, and
published in the Gazette on the 12th day of December, 1929,
at page 3230.

PART II.

Whakarangirangi 29N No. 8 Block: Area, 1 acre 0 roods
26 perches.

Setting apart Native Land as a Native Reservation.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 4th day of
December, 1940.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section five of the Native Purposes Act,
1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doth hereby set apart and reserve the Native freehold land
described in the Schedule hereto as a Native reservation for
the common use and benefit of the owners and persons of the
Whanau-a-Eria Tribe.

Appointment of Members of the Maori Council for the
Kahungunu Maori District.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred upon me by section six of the Native Purposes
Act, 1938, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint

Turi Tipoki,
Haami Kaata, and
Robert Gooding (Official Member)

to be members of the Maori Council for the Kahungunu Maori
District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, this 4th day
of December, 1940.

Lands permanently reserved in the Wellington and Otago
Land Districts.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section
of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-
General may from time to time set apart temporarily as
reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held
under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion
are required for any of the purposes in the said section
mentioned:

And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of
the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved
under the said three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at
the expiration of one month, but not later than six months,
after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary
reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such
permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:

And whereas the lands described in the Schedule hereto
were, by the Warrant dated the fourteenth day of October,
one thousand nine hundred and forty, and published in the
Gazette of the seventeenth day of that month, temporarily
reserved under the authority of the said Act for the purposes
in the Schedule of the said Warrant specified at the end of
the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be
temporarily reserved:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve
the lands described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes
in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective
descriptions of the lands so intended to be permanently
reserved for which purposes the said lands were so temporarily
reserved as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the City of Palmerston North containing
by admeasurement 3 acres 0 roods 36 perches, more or less,
being part of Suburban Section 1020, Township of Palmerston,
bounded: On the south-west by Botanical Road, 586.37
links; on the north-west by other part of the said Suburban
Section 1020, 550 links; towards the north-east by Suburban
Section 1022, Township of Palmerston, 586.37 links; and
towards the south-east by Park Road, 550 links; be all the
aforesaid admeasurements a little more or less. As the
same is more particularly delineated on a plan marked L. and
S. 30/228/12B, deposited in the Head Office, Department
of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

All that area containing 2 roods, more or less, being Lot
10, Papanui Small Farms Settlement, and being part of
Section 59B, Block D, Papanui Native Reserve, bounded as
follows: Commencing at a point on a public road 50 links
north-east from old peg opposite Peg 25; thence towards
the south-west, north-west, and north-east by Lot 4, 264.8,
192.3, and 264.8 links respectively; towards the south-east
by aforesaid public road 192.3 links; be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan
marked L. and S. 6/6/788A, deposited in the Head Office,
Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon
bordered red. (S.O. plan 2193.) (Public school site,
Cape Saunders.)

Land temporarily reserved in the Marlborough Land District
for a Resting-place for Travelling Stock.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section
of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-
General may from time to time set apart temporarily as
reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held
under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion
are required for any of the purposes in the said section
mentioned:

And whereas by the seventy-first section of the Land for
Settlements Act, 1925, it is further provided that the
Governor-General may from time to time, as he thinks
fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of
lands acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that
no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve the
land in the Marlborough Land District, described in the
Schedule hereunder written, for a site for a resting-place
for travelling stock.
