IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred on me by the Marriage Act, 1908, and the
Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, I, Gilbert Graham
Hodgkins, Deputy Registrar-General, do hereby appoint
Martin Keeling Kennedy Bourke
to be the Deputy of the Registrar of Marriages and of Births
and Deaths for the District of Helensville.

appointments in the Public Service:
Hugh Anderson
to be Clerk of the Magistrates' Court at Cromwell for the
purposes of the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1928; Clerk of
the Warden's Court, Receiver of Gold Revenue and Mining
Registrar at Cromwell, Alexandra, and Naseby for the
District of Otago, constituted under the Mining Act, 1926;
Clerk of the Licensing Committee for the District of Central
Otago, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates' Court
at Cromwell for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amend-
ment Act, 1926, on and from the 21st day of November,
1940.
Eoin Bruce Chiholm Murray
to be Assistant Land Registrar at Wellington, pursuant to
the provisions of section 4 of the Land Transfer Act, 1915,
on and from the 2nd day of December, 1940.

The Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940.-Notice fixing
Prices of Certain Grades.
Office of Minister of Marketing,
Wellington, 20th November, 1940.
PURSUANT to Regulation 5:1 of the Lemon Marketing
Regulations 1940, I hereby fix the following prices
per bushel to be paid by the Marketing Department for
lemons of fancy grade and commercial grade respectively
delivered to the Department during the undermentioned
period.
The prices are fixed on an average basic price of 7s. 6d.
for sufficient fruit which when cured will pack a bushel case.
Period of delivery (both days inclusive): 1st December
to 15th December, 1940:

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Hawera
Borough Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

HAWERA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Water Improvements Loan (Β£16,200), 1940.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of
the Borough of Hawera taken on the 6th day of November,
1940, on the proposal of the Hawera Borough Council to
borrow the sum of Β£16,200 for the purpose of improving the
water-supply in the Borough of Hawera by providing and
installing a filtration and treatment plant with all necessary
fittings, and by providing and installing a six-inch water-
main in Waihi Road and High Street with all necessary
house connections and other requisites, and by reconditioning
and lining the existing water-mains comprising the reticu-
lation system of the Borough:-
Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 105
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 53

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Housing Purposes in the
Borough of Westport.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and the
Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to execute a certain public
work-to wit, the construction of houses-and for the
purposes of such public work the land described in the
Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby
further given that the plan of the land so required to be
taken is deposited in the post-office at Westport and is there
open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the
said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections
to the execution to the said public work or to the taking of
such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:
2 roods 20 perches.
Being Sections 71 and 72, Town of Westport, and all the
land in Certificate of Title, Volume 66, folio 271.
Situated in the Borough of Westport (Nelson R.D.).

larly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 108656, deposited
in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington,
and thereon coloured red.

County of Featherston, and the Featherston Riding of the
County of Featherston.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the
Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of
the Borough of Featherston are hereby defined as set out in
the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough
having been altered by Order in Council made under the
Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 25th day of
September, 1940, and published in Gazette No. 102 of the
3rd day of October, 1940:
