The sections are situated at Westshore, about four miles from the Napier Post-office via the Railway-embankment Road. They are suitable sites for permanent residences or beach cottages, and front an ocean beach particularly suited for bathing. Access from the formed road to each section is about 25 ft. to 30 ft. and will require to be formed by the respective selectors themselves. A regular bus service runs between Westshore and Napier.

Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 11th November, 1940.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up till noon on Monday, 9th December, 1940.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 11th December, 1940, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waimarino County.—Manganui Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for two years.)
SECTION 4, Block IX: Area, 369 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £95; half-yearly rent, £1 18s.
Weighted with £150 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising dwelling of four rooms, shed and yards, 200 chains fencing, 95 acres felled and burned.
The section is situated on the left bank of the Ruatiti Stream with frontage to Raetihi-Ohura Road, access being by metalled road sixteen miles from Raetihi Railway-station. Approximately 12 acres of level land, balance undulating with some steep sandstone bluffs. Suitable for grazing in conjunction with an adjoining holding.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 7th January, 1941.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 9th January, 1941, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of improvement loading.
NOTE.—These sections are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessees whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Wallace County.—Jacobs River Hundred.—Otago Mining District.
SECTIONS 18 and 19, Block XVII: Area, 444 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £335; half-yearly rent, £6 14s.
Weighted with £482 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising dwelling, fencing, felling, clearing, and grassing.
The sections, which are suitable for mixed-farming, are situated about one mile and a quarter from Hekeia Post-office and School and Longwood Railway-station, and nine miles from Thornbury Saleyards. The land is undulating to steep and soil is from poor quality to medium loam resting on clay with outcrops of stone. The country was originally covered in mixed bush and manuka, but the best of the standing bush has been cut out leaving light rimu, kamahi, &c., with a fringe of manuka. Approximately 175 acres have been felled and grassed, but the bulk of this area has reverted to second growth, piripiri, and other weeds. Water on both sections is from streams and springs.
