NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE.

Major C. McL. Smith, 2nd Battalion, is appointed to command the Battalion, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 15th October, 1940.

Captain A. St. C. Macgregor, from the Reserve of Officers, The Southland Regiment, to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 20th Company. Dated 1st September, 1940.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) J. R. Bongard, M.C., from the Hauraki Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority from 23rd August, 1940, and is posted to the 4th Company (Tauranga). Dated 15th October, 1940.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 103 dated 10th October, 1940, relative to the appointment of Officers, for “B. K. Lankshear” substitute “B. R. Lankshear.”

Lieutenant P. G. Doherty, M.C. Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 4th (Tauranga) Company. Dated 1st July, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant T. Battersby (Reserve of Officers), to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 25th September, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant E. W. Newton, Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 4th (Tauranga) Company. Dated 1st July, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant R. C. Tuke (Reserve of Officers), to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 8th (Gisborne) Company, Dated 12th July, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant E. E. Jenkinson, Retired List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 8th (Gisborne) Company. Dated 15th July, 1940.

Captain C. A. S. Hind, M.C., Retired List, to be Captain, and is posted to the 18th Company (Timaru). Dated 7th August, 1940.

Lieutenant P. Nicol, Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 18th Company (Timaru). Dated 7th August, 1940.

Lieutenant T. H. McDonald, Retired List, to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 18th Company (Timaru). Dated 7th August, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant G. W. Scott, Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 18th Company (Timaru). Dated 7th August, 1940.

Reginald Coates (late Imperial Forces), to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 18th Company (Timaru). Dated 7th August, 1940.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 102 of the 3rd October, 1940, relative to the appointment of Alexander Anderson McConnell is hereby cancelled and the following substituted :—

“Alexander Anderson McConnell, M.C. (late Imperial Army) to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion, with seniority from 22nd July, 1940, next below Lieutenant R. Palmer. Dated 13th September, 1940.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

Captain (temp.) J. D. Swan, commanding 1st Composite Company, (temp.), is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 7th October, 1940.

Bert James Hanna to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Composite Company. Dated 1st October, 1940.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 102 dated 3rd October, 1940, relative to the appointment of Officers to the 2nd Composite Company, is hereby cancelled and the following substituted :—

Joseph John Brownlee, F.R.C.S. (Eng.), to be Captain (temp.), Southern Military District (unattached). Dated 23rd September, 1940.

Lieutenant E. G. Gibbs, M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S. Edin, attached to the 2nd Field Ambulance, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 1st October, 1940.

Josiah Howard Lawry, M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S. Edin., to be Lieutenant (temp. Captain), Northern Military District (unattached). Dated 14th October, 1940.
