Lands temporarily reserved in the North Auckland, Taranaki, Marlborough, Canterbury, and Otago Land Districts.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section three hundred and fifty-nine of the Land Act, 1924, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby temporarily reserve the lands in the North Auckland, Taranaki, Marlborough, Canterbury, and Otago Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written for the purposes specified in the said Schedule.

Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

Wellington, 4th October, 1940.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Lieutenant J. A. Pountney, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant, 8th Medium Battery, N.Z.A., and retains the appointment of Instructor of Gunnery. Dated 1st September, 1940.

Lieutenant L. F. Brooker, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Instructor, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 13th September, 1940.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Captain (acting Major) T. V. Anson, B.D.S., N.Z. Dental Corps, is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst holding the appointment of Principal Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Papakura. Dated 11th September, 1940.

THE WELLINGTON EAST COAST MOUNTED RIFLES.

Colin Deans (late N.Z.E.F.) to be Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 1st July, 1940.

N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant H. E. Otley, 5th Battery, 3rd Field Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 12th August, 1940.

Lieutenant J. G. Warrington, 6th Battery, 3rd Field Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 12th August, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) D. McL. Swan, 11th Heavy Battery, 9th Heavy Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 20th September, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) G. O. Wiles, 11th Heavy Battery, 9th Heavy Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 21st September, 1940.

William Andrew Joseph Kilner to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.) and is posted to the 6th Battery, 3rd Field Regiment. Dated 23rd August, 1940.

THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 99, dated 19th September, 1940, the name of Bernard Wellesley Jermyn Brown is transposed to next below that of Samuel Frederick Shuttleworth.
