Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 2nd day of October, 1940.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that, on and after the date of publication of this Order in Council in the Gazette, the portions of main highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways, and doth further declare that the roads described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1.
Maungatapere–Kaikohe.—All that main highway in the Counties of Whangarei and Bay of Islands and the Town District of Kaikohe, declared as the Maungatapere–Kaikohe Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Waipapakauri – Victoria Valley Road.—All that main highway in Mangonui County, declared as the Waipapakauri–Victoria Valley Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Kaikohe–Omapere Road.—All that main highway in the Bay of Islands County, declared as the Kaikohe–Omapere Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Kawakawa–Mangamuka.—All that main highway in the Counties of Bay of Islands and Hokianga and the Kawakawa Town District, declared as the Kawakawa–Mangamuka Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Mangamuka – Victoria Valley.—All that main highway in the Counties of Hokianga and Mangonui, declared as the Mangamuka – Victoria Valley Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 20th May, 1932, and published in the Gazette on 26th May, 1932.
Rawene–Kaikohe.—All that main highway in Hokianga County, declared as the Rawene–Kaikohe Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Whangarei–Kawakawa.—All that main highway in the Counties of Whangarei and Bay of Islands and the Town Districts of Kamo, Hikurangi, and Kawakawa, declared as the Whangarei–Kawakawa Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Dargaville – Te Kopuru.—All that main highway in Hobson County, declared as the Dargaville – Te Kopuru Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th February, 1925, and published in the Gazette on 19th February, 1925.
Dargaville–Tikinui.—All that main highway in Hobson County and Dargaville Borough, declared as the Dargaville – Tikinui Main Highway, described in Orders in Council dated 16th December, 1935, and 10th November, 1937, and published in the Gazette on 19th December, 1935, and 18th November, 1937, respectively.
Wayby–Mangawai.—All that main highway in Otamatea County, declared as the Wayby–Mangawai Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 17th September, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 20th September, 1928.
Kaiwaka – Kaiwaka Station.—All that main highway in Otamatea County, declared as the Kaiwaka – Kaiwaka Station Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 5th April, 1928.
Long’s Corner – Tauraroa.—All that main highway in Whangarei County, declared as the Long’s Corner – Tauraroa Main Highway, described in Order in Council, dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 5th April, 1928.
Miti tai–Mangonui Bridge (Upper).—All that main highway in Hobson County, declared as the Miti tai – Mangonui Bridge (Upper) Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 10th October, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 11th October, 1928.

Whangarei–Dargaville.—All that main highway in Dargaville Borough, declared as the Whangarei–Dargaville Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 23rd February, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 24th February, 1928.
Kaikohe Railway-station Road.—All that main highway in the Kaikohe Town District, declared as the Kaikohe Railway-station Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 5th April, 1928.
Kaitaia–Motukaraka.—All that main highway in the Kaitaia Town District, declared as the Kaitaia–Motukaraka Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 8th November, 1939, and published in the Gazette on 9th November, 1939.
Waimamaku–Ohaeawai.—All that main highway in the Kaikohe Town District, declared as the Waimamaku–Ohaeawai Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.
Hikurangi–Marua.—All that main highway in the Hikurangi Town District, declared as the Hikurangi–Marua Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 14th January, 1932, and published in the Gazette on 21st January, 1932.

Auckland–Maungaturoto.—All that main highway in the Counties of Waitemata and Rodney, Birkenhead Borough, and Warkworth Town District, declared as the Auckland–Maungaturoto Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 17th September, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 20th September, 1928.
Also all that main highway in Waitemata County, declared as the Auckland–Maungaturoto Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 18th May, 1937, and published in the Gazette on 20th May, 1937.
Great South Road.—All that main highway in the Counties of Eden, Manukau, Franklin, Waikato, and Waipa, the Boroughs of Ellerslie, Manurewa, Huntly, Ngaruawahia, and Te Awamutu, the Town Districts of Papatoetoe, Papakura, and Mercer, and Mount Wellington Road District, declared as the Great South Road Main Highway, described in Orders in Council dated 9th June, 1924, 23rd February, 1928, 14th January, 1929, 11th March, 1935, and 9th August, 1939, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924, 24th February, 1928, 24th January, 1929, 14th March, 1935, and 24th August, 1939, respectively.
Auckland–Wellington via Taranaki.—All that main highway in Otorohanga County and Otorohanga Town District, declared as the Auckland–Wellington via Taranaki Main Highway, described in Orders in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and 26th March, 1930, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924, and 27th March, 1930, respectively.
Auckland–Wainui Road (via Takapuna).—All that main highway in Waitemata County, declared as the Auckland–Wainui Road (via Takapuna) Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 14th July, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 17th July, 1924.
Warkworth – Kaipara Flats Railway-station.—All that main highway in Rodney County, declared as the Warkworth – Kaipara Flats Railway-station Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924.

Pokeno–Waihi.—All that main highway in the Counties of Franklin, Waikato, Hauraki Plains, and Ohinemuri, and the Boroughs of Paeroa and Waihi, declared as the Pokeno–Waihi Main Highway, described in Orders in Council dated 9th June, 1924, 23rd February, 1928, and 16th October, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 12th June, 1924, 24th February, 1928, and 18th October, 1928, respectively.
Taurangi–Waihi.—All that main highway in Ohinemuri County, declared as the Taurangi–Waihi Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 7th September, 1925, and published in the Gazette on 10th September, 1925.
