HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) and Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand):—

Archibald Thomson, Esquire, entered as Temporary Commander (E), Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 26th October, 1939, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 26th October, 1939, and to H.M.S “Monowai,” to date 30th August, 1940 (to serve as Chief Engineer).

Walter Archibald Scott, Esquire, entered as Temporary Lieutenant-Commander (E), Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 23rd October, 1939, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 23rd October, 1939, and to H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 30th August, 1940 (to serve as Second Engineer).

Alfred Harold Sneyd, Esquire, entered as Temporary Lieutenant (E), Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 23rd October, 1939, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 23rd October, 1939, and to H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 30th August, 1940 (to serve as Third Engineer).

Francis Gregory Laing, Esquire, entered as Temporary Lieutenant (E), Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 23rd October, 1939, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 23rd October, 1939, and to H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 30th August, 1940 (to serve as Fourth Engineer).

George Allan Lockhart, Esquire, entered as Temporary Sub-Lieutenant (E), Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 23rd October, 1939, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 23rd October, 1939, and to H.M.S. “Monowai,” to date 30th August, 1940 (to serve as Fifth Engineer).

Frederick Kendall Gibson, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for duty with Naval Officer in Charge, Lyttelton, vice Stevens, to date 11th September, 1940.

David Horn, Esquire, entered as Temporary Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand), (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 28th August, 1940, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Futurist,” to date 28th August, 1940, and H.M.S. “Futurist” in command, to date 31st August, 1940 (amended orders).

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of the undermentioned officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Lieutenant R. E. Johnston, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Instructor, Southern Military District School of Instruction, Burnham. Dated 9th September, 1940.

N.Z. ARMY PAY CORPS.

Richard Leonard Seamer is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant, and is attached to Pay, Accounts, and Base Records Office, Wellington. Dated 23rd July, 1940.

Hon. Lieutenant R. I. Seamer is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 31st August, 1940.
